That has nothing to do with this law, which protected people from contracts for deed mortgages, a fraudulent lending practice.

ACORN received no money from passage of this bill and the mortgages had nothing to do with the housing bubble. Texas law remained firm on requiring mortgages to cover no more than 80%.
