“The wind came back with triple fury, and put out the light for the last time. They sat in company with the others in other shanties, their eyes straining against crude walls and their souls asking if He meant to measure their puny might against His. They seemed to be staring at the dark, but their eyes were watching God.”

Oh WOW. Huge waves at Topsail breaking over the pier. Thanks for posting the link!
He said they were going to Broadway shows. Those are cancelled too.
Armani on Madison Ave. is closed for the storm...windows were being taped in a lot of stores in Midtown tonight. Tomorrow morning people are going to be running out to supermarkets and liquor stores...by noon all transit comes to a halt.
Great writing. Tough it is to see the last few moments in a spot one has gotten oneself into by chance or design.
All 5 airports are closing at noon. Outbounds only. That flight isn’t going to happen.
What happened with your daughter’s trip to NYC? Many of us are curious.
New model showing an early cut North. It may just be a wobble.
We were hoping for rain from Irene to put it out. We got about a tenth of an inch here and none over the swamp.

I don’t get it. How do they know how much rain will fall into the ocean?
By the looks of that map, I’ll need to prep two sump pumps for the cellar.
Left Cape Cod on the Bay shore this morning at my husbands request. . . to come home to northern NJ. Seems like it will be even worse here than there.

I never use milk jugs. The new ones they will never seal tight after the seal is broken. Besides possible contamination, if they tip over in your car you, have water all over the place. We use the gallon cranberry juice containers. They are sturdy, clear and seal tight. You may not have access to these in your area.
Reliance makes 7 gallon Aqua-tainers with a spigot and are BPA free. They will cost you less than buying 7 gallons of bottled city water.
If you want to put bleach or any other chemical in your water (like the cities do) that’s up to you. I don’t drink city water unless there is absolutely no other option available.
To your health!

It might be. If NYC gets a CAT 1, it will be as we say “Not Good”.
LOL! Let us know what they say. I agree, it’s foolhardy to go. Maybe they don’t grasp the danger? There won’t be much to do there anyway with no public transportation and no shows, etc.
Thank God!!!
