Approximately 65 million people are likely to be directly impacted by Hurricane Irene as the storm takes aim at the densely populated Eastern Seaboard. Evacuations are underway for high flood risk areas.
Mass transit cancellations, schedule changes and road/bridge closures are occurring throughout the storm warning areas. Please check with local news and Emergency Management Operations to determine the recommendations for your immediate area.

ROTFLOL...ahh..the memories!
Never, lol. But it would be weird to move somewhere else where these kinds of things didn’t happen!
We get our drinking water from a local artesian well and store it in 7 gallon containers for up to a month. We keep it in the basement out of the sunlight where the temp is usually around 65 degrees. The containers are filled to the top with little or no air in them. Never had a problem. I can’t imagine drinking water with bleach in it.
Geraldo will be covering the storm all week-end...lol.

I am looking at about 50 in gusts . I fear many will be complacent for other canes as every Lowe’s was sold out and everyone prepared and evacuated that would usually stay. I’d rather it be a no biggie... but next time...
We have a wild fire in Holland shelter game lands that needed put to bed finally.
If for some reason bleach has to be added, for instance if the container or the water was dubious, the chlorine will evaporate in 24 hours. I used to fill gallon glass jars with tap water, put a clean kitchen towel on to keep dust and bugs out, and in 24 hours the horrible bleach taste was gone. I usually had several jars lined up every day.
That picture was Hurricane Bertha BTW. 7/1996
“I am looking at about 50 in gusts.”
Where are you located - if you don’t mind me asking?
Did he film all the idiot tourists getting rescued in rip tides earlier today? LOL
Inland 30 miles with a generator ready.
You have done an awesome job with your hurricane threads. It’s appreciated more than you know. Ignore the naysayers.
You are providing a very valuable source. Thanks.
I will post from my phone and be geraldo. LOL
Our son call just a little while ago. He had just got on the Ohio turnpike on his way home from work. He said the turnpike was clogged with utility trucks headed towards the East coast getting ready for hurricane Irene damage. He seen trucks from MI, OH, MN, WI, IL,& IN.
I'm skimming the thread, and watching the news..and I misread it as..
I am looking at about 50 GUESTS!!!
and I thought to myself....AWESOME HURRICANE PARTY DUDE!!!(LOL)
in any case..be safe..
No...he was taking his boat inland according to his facebook page. I was hoping he was going to ride the storm tides in his schooner all weekend...lol. I remember him in Katrina standing below one of the levees that was leaking water and about to break. The man is going to get himself killed one day acting so stupid.
Drudge’s latest headline for Irene is “Irene Weakens” — however, what is there to support that claim? Below is what he links to, but I don’t see where/why he thinks it’s weakening. Too premature to say it’s weakening?

i rely on this thread immensely and so appreciate the effort.
Just saw a clip of NC Gov Bev Perdue...gawd..what a sourpuss...looks like she’s doing her best to channel Kathleen Blanco...
Nice! Just don’t get fight any skinheads you might run into if you go outside.
LOL
