Rick Perry's "treason" comments are drawing sharp criticism from a wide range of political observers and talking heads, among them Karl Rove.
"You don't accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason," Rove, who has clashed with Perry before, told Fox News (via TPM). "And, suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas You know, that is not, again a presidential statement."
Rove continued: "If Rick Perry were to be elected president he'd be saddled with Ben Bernanke who has a term. He's an independent chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, appointed by president and confirmed by Congress and serves for a term and the president couldn't even ask him to resign. So, this is I hope this is not the first of sort of over the top statements."
Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry's comments.

I do not support Perry.
However, to be fair, having Rove attack him does give Perry credibility.
Good one!~!
;^)
I agree, but I’d actually back up four and eight years in the telling... :^)
I guess Rove has decided to do an ODonnell on Perry now...probably make some comment about his being a warlock too.
“when he met with reporters, was asked explicitly whether he was suggesting that such an action by the Fed would be strictly an attempt to help reelect the president. ‘If they print more money between now and this election I would suggest thats exactly whats going on,’ he replied”
I personally doubt that the Fed is so motivated. Not because Bernanke’s motives are pure; I couldn’t care less about his motives. Because no matter who is in charge, Bernanke only ever has one policy suggestion. Whether or not Obama was up for reelection he’d advocate printing money and expanding credit. All he ever wants is lower interest rates and more cash outta thin air. That’s it.
The guy who believes his wife can’t get into the best heaven unless he calls her secret name? No, I’m not voting for him.
In no way is this just political theater designed to make Perry look like a anti-Federal Reserve rogue in the Republican party. Perry is the real deal and will be the same man he his in his campaign as when he is elected president.
Go to hell Rove, just go to hell.
OK - so no Perry and no Romney for you.
Who gives us the best chance to beat Obama?
I think it’s Perry. He’s got his kinks for sure.
But he’s a ruthless campaigner. Thick skin. Fights fire with fire!
That’s the only way to beat liberal lies and shamelessness.
I would have thought the fact that Sarah Palin enthusiastically endorsed and supported him for GOverno of Texas would have proven he wasn't a RINO. Sarah isn't in the habit of endorsing RINOs, if you ignore McCain, which Palin supporters tell us repeatedly we are supposed to ignore.
“What does it matter after all, since the only goal is to get an (R) in there.”
I think you were being sarcastic. But this time around, that IS the only goal. We have to get Obama out. Can you settle for a nominee who doesn’t meet your ideals, but can oust the Usurper?
I would too.
the bloom on the Turd Blossom died a long time ago for me....
Hurry up Sarah..2012
Sorry......HA...brain malfunction on my part...
When you put the Fed actions in the context of Soros talking about a managed decline of the dollar, "America needs to be knocked off her pedestal", NWO babble, intentionally running up unprecidential levels of debt with no cuts to spending and his backing of Obama, It is not business as usual (imo)
