Rick Perry's "treason" comments are drawing sharp criticism from a wide range of political observers and talking heads, among them Karl Rove.
"You don't accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason," Rove, who has clashed with Perry before, told Fox News (via TPM). "And, suggesting that we treat him pretty ugly in Texas You know, that is not, again a presidential statement."
Rove continued: "If Rick Perry were to be elected president he'd be saddled with Ben Bernanke who has a term. He's an independent chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, appointed by president and confirmed by Congress and serves for a term and the president couldn't even ask him to resign. So, this is I hope this is not the first of sort of over the top statements."
Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry's comments.

Gov. Perrys comments about Chairman Bernanke are inappropriate and unpresidential, Tony Fratto declared tonight in a tweet.
Fratto, a former Treasury Department and White House official in George W. Bushs administration, Managing Partner Hamilton Place Strategies and founder of RooseveltRoom.net, a web site for Bush alumni.
Perry was speaking at a stop during the second day of a three-day campaign swing through Iowa home to the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses.
If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I dunno what yall would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas, Perry said. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous or treasonous in my opinion. .........<<<< Source
But it’s OK to there with your thumb up your rectum while the Left accuses a sitting President of engineering the murder of 3000 Americans?
If the shoe fits...
The best reasons I have for liking Perry is the people who hate him.

How many are there, exactly? Enough to sway an election?
‘cause my guess is, there are a WHOLE lot MORE of us who think Perry is right on the money calling out Bernanke.
Mmmm.
Wasn’t it Karl that tried to give us Kay Bailey for Gov?
“Politico has a roundup of reactions from some other prominent George W. Bush allies, none of whom had nice things to say about Perry’s comments.”
Great news for Perry. The last thing that Perry needs is to be tied to Bush.
Rove sort of reminds me of what a shaved gerbil would look like.
I’m sure Obama appreciates the gratis attacks from one Republican to another...
The networks will all be too happy to have the evil Karl Rove on to bash Perry and prop up Romney!
Perry can’t be all bad if he’s got Tokyo Rove’s knickers twisted...
>>”You don’t accuse the chairman of the Federal Reserve of being a traitor to his country. Of being guilty of treason,”<<
Unless you sincerely believe it.
Ya think people are catching on to you?? ;-)
Well, if Rove hates him, he can’t be all bad. As far as I’m concerned, Perry tells it like it is regarding the Obama admin’s treason!! Wish more of our Republicans would do likewise. Obama burns America while the Republicans fiddle!!
He is a (not the only, just "a") prime reason why I no longer listen to or watch the msm fox network.
“Salon” has morphed Perry’s comments into calling for “stringing him up.”
>>>>Yesterday, Texas governor and sudden Republican presidential frontrunner Rick Perry said that if Ben Bernanke tried any of that money-printing stuff in Texas, hed be strung up. If this guy prints more money between now and the election, Perry told some Iowans, I dont know what yall would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. (Iowas last execution was in 1963, so Iowa would probably not kill him.)
Among many Americans, especially wealthy rich white political pundits who live in gated communities in Maryland, it is considered folksy and charming to explicitly remind people of and seemingly endorse Americas ugly history of lynch mobs doling out frontier justice, but even among those who see nothing wrong with white-washed nostalgia for gruesome, lawless vigilantism, Perrys comments were thought to have gone a bit too far. (Accusing the Republican-appointed chairman of the Federal Reserve of treason was a serious unforced error, according to John Podhoretz.) New York Times Washington correspondent Binyamin Appelbaum summed up one strand of establishment response to the comments by calling Perrys remakrs horrifying.<<<.....
