NEW YORK (Reuters) - The United States lost its top-notch AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor's on Friday, in a dramatic reversal of fortune for the world's largest economy.
S&P cut the long-term U.S. credit rating by one notch to AA-plus on concerns about growing budget deficits.
U.S. Treasuries, once undisputedly seen as the safest investment in the world, are now rated lower than bonds issued by countries such as the UK, Germany, France or Canada

Here comes QE3. I bet that is why we were downgraded, as that S&P is forcasting QE3, and that this will be 3-5x the size of QE2.

Standard & Poor's had warned that the nation's credit rating would be subject to a downgrade without a credible deficit-reduction package worth $4 trillion over 10 years. The package agreed to by congressional negotiators falls well short of that mark. MSNBC

Statement from S&P parsels blame evenly between Dems & Rs, entitlements and taxes. Then S&P is doing a favor for the Dems, because tax revenue as a percentage of GDP has remained pretty constant while spending has exploded. That means taxes aren't the problem, spending is. If S&P is being "evenhanded", then it is being biased.

And us tea party terrorists also have to suppress pointing out that S&P is one of the rating agencies that gave AAA credit ratings to bogus collateralized mortgage obligations that helped cause our current economic mess. And then they try to approach our current crisis in a “balanced” way. FU S&P. FUBO.

The GOP was supposed to be the opposition party to reckless spending. We expected the Left to run everything into the ground as they have a long history of doing that. Everyone knows socialism is guarenteed to crash into massive poverty.
Way to go Rinos! You saved the day from the extremist hobbits who wanted to cut spending rather than raise the debt ceiling! I bet the Rinos are not so full of their nasty selves today.
