If Barack Obama loses next November, we'll look back on Sunday -- July 31, 2011 -- as the day he became a one-termer.
He demonstrated the one key quality common to all unsuccessful leaders: Haplessness.
In the most confrontational partisan moment of his presidency, Obama ended up looking remarkably powerless. He didn't get his way. To put it mildly.
The deal he endorsed on the debt ceiling will long be an object of debate for both right and left. There's so much for everyone to dislike in it that people are lining up to rage against it, even though it will surely pass.

This is a bad deal. Horrible in fact. When the economy crashes even more, it will be the GOP’s fault. It will be in every dem ad from here to November 2012.
And it has already started.
You’re right...they’d have to admit it, and while they know it, one of their secret weapons is that they never - well, rarely - admit it. And while I think a lot of them may be privately embarrassed by their boy, their whole lives are on the line now if they abandon him.
Now one has to ask who would have been stupid enough to believe him in the first place...the answer is, only a Communications major. Communications is famously the major of ditzes who can’t think what they want to do and aren’t very smart and don’t want to work very hard. Well, guess what...the entire country is now being run by them.
I’ve been out to Speaker Boehner’s facebook page. The fix is already in. Just reading the posts on there tell you the dem. base truly believe the republicans and TEA party got everything they wanted.
The fact that we have no media voice is already killing us!
No President, No Party should ever be allowed to be this powerful.
I disagree. The day he officially became a naked emperor was inauguration day, complete with faux Greek columns. Passing the debt ceiling bill was a win for him, as we will see soon enough.
That is not what this article is about at all. The purpose of this propaganda piece is to provide cover for when the collapse hits. It is the smoke obfuscating the truth, that what is before the senate for voting, is more of the same old failing Keynesian economic policies.
When the trigger mechanisms kick in during the election year...it will be touted as a failure of the republican debt policy. 0bama will be held above the fray of austerity measures that will need to be implemented. They are setting up the base to 'toe the line' regarding who to blame when the money runs out, gets cut, interest rates rise, etc.
Boehner needed to force 0bama to invoke the 14th and own this crap. Nothing in this legislation is going to work and save us from the downgrade.
What are you talking about? He won! He got $26T in new spending over 10 years, and the power of unilateral debt ceiling increase. There are no deficit cuts. There are no debt cuts. He won outright. Now he can buy his next term, swiping that credit card for whatever the centrist voters want.
Most can't make a sentence with a subject and predicate.
“I hope his birthday party really sucks.”
Actually, I hope its a great party and everyone has lavish food and drink, smiles, laughs, entertainment and singing.
And I also hope that there is a lot of footage taken and that its plastered all over the TV.
The country and especially electorate need to face the reality re are dealing with. A self absorbed party on zero.
A loser.
Exactly...he got what he wanted from the dumb Republicans . He got a load of cash to please the left with...and no more nasty discussions on the deficit to interfere with the election cycle.. He sits back and lets the RINOs congratulate themselves on HIS victory..
There were not enough good people willing to do what it took to save the Weimar Republic.
The Chocolate Reich with it’s propaganda media will destroy America just like the Third Reich and propaganda ministry destroyed Germany.
All we can do is pray for rapture before bloodshed.
I am prepared for both.
“It sucks having to wait to get rid of him!”
Yes, well, it’s better to impeach than throw him out now and then have an eternal “what if” scenario.
