Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) repeatedly criticized Democrats last year for voting on legislation that members didnt have time to read. "Read the Bill" language was even included in the GOP's Pledge to America to ensure lawmakers would have adequate notice to review legislation.
"Neither members of Congress or the public were given time to read the trillion-dollar stimulus before it passed. Nobody read the cap-and-trade bill. Nobody read the budget. And yet Democrats approved them anyway," Boehner said in a video last year. Every major bill should be posted online and publicly available for at least 72 hours."

Given his track record why would anyone expect him to keep his word?
Exactly right. IMHO, it is really very simple. We have largely become a nation of lazy, selfish, faithless cowards, and our leadership reflects it.
One thing is certain. Government will continue to grow. Our debt will be "sustainable" until the day it isn't. In a way, it is self limiting, because we will borrow 40 cents of every dollar we spend, until no one lends us any more money. Then the spending will stop, and we will pay the piper with whatever assets we have left.
The destruction of this country is certain, was avoidable, and was caused by the majority believing in Man rather than God, and thereby losing any form of common sense. We can no longer tell the difference between up and down. The fool says in his heart there is no God. We are a nation run by fools. Comparing the likes of a Pelosi or Biden or McCain or Romney to Washington or Madison or Hamilton or Franklin illustrates how far we have fallen.
You haven't read it, have you? I'm trying to, and it's either nonsensical or outrageous.
Pages 9-16, AFAIK, authorize an increase in spending of $26T over 10 years. TWENTY SIX TRILLION DOLLARS OF NEW SPENDING! It's not "caps", it's "roofs" - encouraging spending to at least those specified levels ... which can of course be bumped further with a few strokes of a pen.
I don't yet see where the "cuts" are. In light of the aforementioned $26T, they aren't. Word is the 2012 "cuts" are $0.022T ... how the he11 is 0.08% in "cuts" vs. increases going to help?
The President, it seems, is given unilateral authority to increase the debt ceiling further. Sure, Congress can say "no", but the policy now favors raising it.
That's not herding cats, that's spraying catnip and squeaky toys.

Nope, here is what we know. The American people have been screwed again.
Most of these gimmicks will be undone in the next all-Republican Congress, anyway (it's not really a 10-year "plan" or "budget" and it's not really binding to even this Congress if they chose to ignore it). So there is a lot of garbage in this "compromise" to make everyone unhappy, which is how the "compromise" (by definition) usually works.
But that's what happens when there is no plan or it constantly keeps changing - they put themselves in a box, and a "few days" more of this "process" would only make situation worse for them which Dems would exploit by demanding more "hidden" concessions. Fortunately, the leadership finally understood when to stop and put the Dem Senate into a no-win position of voting down the "compromise."
Let's remember, Pelosi and Reid didn't try to implement PelosiReidCare when they took over the Congress, they knew they needed a lot more. GOP is not going to undo the Obama-Pelosi-Reid-and-Hoyer (OPRAH) damage in one election and having made no real case for it to the nation and no strength in numbers to force it legislatively.
I'm PISSED!!!!!
I am with ya. There is a need and a place to vent the frustrations, but we should not let venting the emotions come at the expense of logic and understanding the process and the limits of what can be done given the circumstances which were well known well before any "plans" were made. Let's declare victory (everybody does it) and build on what we could realistically expect to get from this process (given the state of GOP in Congress) and do better in the next elections.
“Sorry, but we just didn’t have that kind of time. Instant total default. No Social Security checks. No food stamps. Wall Street panic. World coming to an end. It’s 8/2 in a couple hours.
They just had to come up with a quick way to spend more. Be grateful. They just saved the world.”
I hope you meant to place a /sc at the end of your post.
I greatly appreciate it. I feel yesterday I am already way behind. I will use your advice and get ready, because I think many of us know it is coming. This weekend, I was in northern maine, and I thought that would be a perfect place to buy a more suitable home for such a scenario. The land isn’t expensive and I could put a small cabin on there without breaking my bank.
The American people are incapable of understanding this controversy or any others for that matter. Boehner admitted from the start that he would adhere to the liberal line. No one is surprised.
Yes, but the American people are incapable of understanding your message here. They will fail every time politically.
am anxiously awaiting on Palin..hope her decision is soon.
stay safe over there...take care...always follow your posts..thanks for responding to mine..
Sounds great. Peace be with you.

I started prepping about that same time also.
I also purchased my first gun the day after Obama was elected.
“The day I realized they sent McCain against Obama, I started.”
McCain against Obama. Ha. He probably voted for him.
keep in mind Michelle Bachmann voted no, and said she was going to before anyone let her know she “could” at the end of the vote.
Michelle Bachmann will have my total support...
Never would I vote Roomey, he is so ‘yesterday’
and I consider myself a ‘Tea Party supporter’ but as I said..maybe it is time for a THIRD PARTY...
Your very welcome.....
