David Codrea has been doing an excellent job of reporting on this issue.

The hearings that Issa conducted yesterday must have really opened a can of worms. It was reported that 2 of 6 witnesses received letters from the ATF asking them to limit testimony. hmmmm Wonder where that came from?

"Idiocy" is letting them off the hook. That's a whole lot of deliberate, well-coordinated, premeditated idiocy by a whole lot of people.

Like when Sandy Berger got busted, and Bill Clinton said, "Awww, shucks, that's just Sandy being Sandy. He was disorganized and sloppy like that when he was head of National Security. Hawww, haww."

I say that this entire mess is just SCREAMING for an INDEPENDENT COUNSEL and very possibly for hearings on IMPEACHMENT to begin.

“Pefect storm of idiocy” mischaracterizes these activities - deliberately. They were conceived and carried out for the explicitly evil purpose of undermining the US Constitution, specifically the 2nd Amendment. As such, its originators and participants are traitors due the full Constitutional measure of punishment.

Without David and Mike, none of this would have been possible.

They both deserve medals. Preferably something with an annual stipend and priority parking for life. IMO, they've earned it.

It appears that idiocy and/or incompetence will be the spin for this scandal.

The Treasury and Justice depts will be portrayed as an inept and bungling bureaucracies, when, in reality, they are machiavellian, with malice and hostility to the 2nd Amendment.

From Dodd-Frank to F&F gunwalking. One thing is sure about Dummies. They never ever follow a plan to each logical conclusion. Therefore they never see the unintended consequences of their actions. Or maybe they do and don’t care as long as it gets a vote.

This might be worthy of your Dinosaur pinglist, at least related.

It is clear that this story would have gone nowhere relying on the MSM.

So our old “argument” takes another turn.

I have been concerned that the consolidation in the MSM is dangerous, as they will just provide a conduit for pre-packaged Reuters/AP propaganda.

At the same time I have also been concerned that consolidation means a reduction in beat reporters in the smaller papers, reducing the number of people paid to ferret this stuff out.

OTOH, here we have David Codrea on the potemkin ePaper “Examiner.com”, otherwise freelancer and/or of Guns Magazine.

This story/scandal would never have seen the light of day without him.

Citizen journalism success story? Or exception that proves the rule that the 4th estate has been broken by consolidation and think about all the other horrific things going on unreported because “citizen journalism” is only picking up a tiny fraction of the heavy lifting.

What do you think?

“Limit Testimony”?

What ever happened to:

“The Truth,
The Whole Truth,
And Nothing But The Truth”?

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

How many 'Observers' does the Mexican government have sitting in on these hearings?

If none, then why isn't Mexico a interested party?

Thought of something last night.

How many guns were moved? We have noticed a few, but I suspect that the majority were not found.

Why is the state arming the criminals? Limiting the 2nd is part of the option, but I suspect there is more.

If even the ATF is saying a plan to restrict gun rights is a really stupid idea and people are going to be killed, it’s a really, really BAD idea and it should be shelved immediately.

ATF did say this. The Obama Administration didn’t listen.

"Perfect storm of idiocy" my @$$.

The program continued in spite of the protests of the agents on the ground for one reason: it was working as designed by The Regime, whose purpose was never to target Mexican cartels.

The above chart (of firearms seized in Mexico) shows that the Mexican cartels' major source of weapons was never US weapons. And that in fact, tens of thousands or firearms, illegally acquired from either the Mexican Military or Central America, according to more reliable source than the propaganda organs of the Obama Regime, are seized every year.

For that reason, law enforcement authorities in Mexico did not need to find Obama/Holder provided weapons on Cartel members/"cartel leaders" as a reason to arrest and prosecute them.

To call it "idiocy" is to claim those weapons were walked into Mexico for primarily any other reason than to manufacture evidence for the Obaminista narrative of "Mexican violence fueled by lax US gun laws." To do this is either dangerously naive or a ruthlessly Obamanista lie. This was nothing other than a "Reichstag Fire" engineered by the Obama regime, to attack 2nd Amendment Constitutional rights.

The only thing that went wrong, for Obamanista designs, was that the murder of a BP Officer, with one of these weapons, provoked whistle-blowers to expose it.

Wrong! It wasn’t idiocy. It was out and out blatant criminality.
