I haven’t listened to the SOB’s speeches since the one where congressman Shimkus walked out on him and another congressman shouted “you lie” at Obama. I read a few but can’t stomach the droning.
I just listened to this one and am wondering if it is possible to get any lamer that butting cliches end to end and trying to hold the equivalent of a faded, poor resolution cardboard cutout of Reagan in front of himself as some kind of camouflage.

Two great phrases: 1.)The preident wants a “Balanced Approach”. This means “the government spends more and YOU pay more!” 2.) We need to “LIBERATE” our economy.
Isn’t that the greatest couple of take away lines? Great job, and to the point on the politics involved here.

Boehner did well. He is showing some serious backbone.
Obama has a VERY high probability of coming out of this looking like a destructive child. The Republicans have a high probability of coming out looking like statesmen and adults.
It will be hard for the media to really act like it is the other way around. Obama has been bad, Boehner has been reasonable. It's pretty clear.
On the other hand, if Boehner suddenly caves, I think the GOP may cease to exist almost over night. It would like Grant surrendering at Appomattox.
And I sense that Boehner understands both of these points.

Boehner did a good job. I know it’s not fashionable here to speak well of Charles Krauthammer but he did nail it - Obama’s speech was so “yesterday”, has nothing to do with the state of things today. Just a repetition of the same old tested “balanced approach” line that he thinks will impress the independents. Same old BS from Obama, and if this is the best he can do, it just shows how bankrupt this Presidency really is.
Castigating Harry Reid’s “cuts only” approach is just icing on the cake.
I keep wanting some young staffer to rig a horn blaring the theme to the Duke boy’s General Lee to blow just as Obammy speaks.
