Rick Perry wins Iowa county straw poll
Politico ^ | July 20, 2011 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Posted on 07/20/2011 9:48:34 AM PDT by Clairity

Clay County GOP chairwoman Kirstine Thiessen confirmed that Perry won the straw poll vote the other night, which was held among those on hand for a planned meeting. The county, I'm told, is in Rep. Steve King's district, and abuts Minnesota.

Of the 59 votes cast, Perry won with 15, followed by Michele Bachmann with 9, Thiessen said. Rick Santorum got eight, Ron Paul got 6, Hermain Cain got 5, Thaddeus McCotter got four, and tied with Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney for that number. Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin each got two votes.

It's not quite a representative sample of the larger Iowa electorate, but it is worth noting.

I see you don’t let facts get in the way of your opinion, which you are expressing as fact.

It would be interesting if the “anti-Perry” people would elaborate on what’s wrong in this National Review article:

http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/265309/rick-perry-s-tenth-commandment-kevin-d-williamson

It Appears he a conservative, a “scrapper”, and disliked by the entire Bush entourage. As a non-Texan-Palin- supporter, if she doesn’t run, he’s 2nd on my list.

Ditto. It's entirely possible that Palin & Perry are even coordinating their activities right now.

Not fond of Perry, Pawlenty or Santorum. Sarah isn’t running yet and Romney is a ‘no way in HELL, EVER’ - same goes for Huntsman.

Jury is still out on Cain and Bachmann. I like what I have seen but I need to see more.

Those cheer leaders like to stick together, don’t they?

I am a tad disappointed. Rick Perry is big on the NAFTA Highway, and on cheap labor!

I believe I posted a link direct from Perry’s office kissing up to then Presidente Vincente Fox lauding open borders to you the other day. I never received a response from you.

Perry also attended CFR in 2007.

You prove those 2 things are lies.

There's nothing as wrong with Perry as there is with this fact:

Last night, Greta Van Susteren had a poll on GretaWire. You could only vote once. She asked her national audience to pick one, Perry or Palin. Thousands of votes poured in.

The results?

Palin ~ 65%

Perry ~ 35%

By a nearly two-to-one margin, America wants Palin.

Sorry.

You are ignoring all his efforts to get help from the Federal Gov to secure the border and his actions of having put Guard troops on the border.

Sure, the Dems want Palin, because they know that Obama can defeat her.

Greta’s poll is not a scientific poll.

I don’t care about the meaningless efforts before an election. I am talking overall. That ain’t pretty.

Until conservatives quit trying to pretend that someone’s record is other than what it is, we will add to ruining this country.

You look at the totality of the person. You don’t try to make a liberal position into a conservative one.

We play these games as though we would prefer to ignore the truth. Then we end up disappointed.

I can see it now. We will go down this path once again as CIR is back on the table. We will whine and cry and we will all be told to man those phones and keep calling to stop it.

No more. I won’t play. If we elect another open borders/amnesty candidate, we deserve what we get.

"You are ignoring all his efforts to get help from the Federal Gov..."

None of that matters if Americans prefer Palin instead of Perry by a nearly 2-1 margin. In all seriousness, look at the bright side. The Palin landslide will be so big, you'll be happy anyway.

“If we elect another open borders/amnesty candidate, we deserve what we get.”

You are on your way to do just that: reelecting Obama, because no electable Republican is good enough for you.
