Alan Greenspan has an interesting new take on what's wrong with the U.S. economy.
He blames the young work force -- there are "major concerns about the productive skills of our future U.S. labor force" -- and U.S. trade policy mirroring China's.
Greenspan interviewed himself (or so it appears) for the Globalist recently about how the U.S. is handling job creation. He says that the U.S. is doing it backwards by trying to increase jobs via trade policy.
"Increased jobs are the consequence of increased trade. Increasing jobs more than output implies a fall in productivity and standards of living. That surely cannot be our goal." But that is exactly what China is doing wrong, says Greenspan.
"[The Chinese] are manipulating their currency in order to get low-quality, high-labor-content products produced for maximum employment. They are distorting their economic structure and creating long-term economic damage."
It sounds like Greenspan is primarily worried that the U.S., in its quest to create jobs quickly and get the recovery on track, will employ the young U.S. work force in easy, lower-paying, unproductive jobs. And since the young work force is unintelligent and lazy compared to the workers they're replacing, the Baby Boomers, this spells bad news for the U.S. economy.
"[Baby boomers] are being replaced by groups of young workers who have regrettably scored rather poorly in international educational match-ups over the last two decades.

Calling Andrea. Do you know where your husband is?
Alan Greenspan needs an enema and a mug of hot tea with milk.
I think he’d better have nurse administer them, though. I doubt he could choose the correct orifice twice in a row by himself.
Greenspan is a idiot who can’t communicate his point in a coherent manner. And if you can understand him you would wish that you hadn’t wasted your time.
Horse crap.
The economy ALWAYS goes south on Marxists/Socialsts; pick up a history book, Greenspan, ANY history book - and then STFU.
Honest to God...
He’s gone nuts.
Arguably Greenspan killed an entire Nation with his econmic ignorance.
Fortunately, by the time Greenspan married Andrea Mitchell, she was far too old to bear children. Can you imagine what they might have look like?
For the first time in a long time, he does have a point. America has manufactured perhaps the dumbest, most unskilled generation in the history of western civilization. All of their fifty thousand dollar Fine Arts degrees don’t bode well for American production and innovation in the coming years.
But for the handful of kids who are learning real skills, the world will be theirs. If there’s anything left.
NWO Greenspan still spewing his world agenda...isn’t he 99 by now?
Greenspan has a valid point - public education and the way our society has formed our population has definitely contributed to the US global decline.
The trouble is - Greenspan doesn’t bother to take any responsibility for this decline...Greenspan, his wife and their comrades are directly responsible.
Irrational exuberance. Seeing the stock go up on bad news I finally understand. (not really). We are now in the final bubble. The Government Bubble. When it bursts look out below.
Off the deep end
I’m a Baby Boomer, but I’m one of the younger ones. My 10th grade history teacher said to us at the beginning of a class, “You’re all spoiled rotten!”
He was right. As you see, I’ve remembered his words all of my life. After a typical Baby Boomer divorce by Baby Boomer feminism/romanticism, I went to Ft. Leonard Wood for one-station unit initial training as a combat engineer (combat type—not construction!) at the age of 31 and graduated 13 weeks later. The training methods for that MOS had been revised back to older methods on that post about year or two before.
Most of us (my generation) are spoiled rotten, and liars...and legalistic thieves. Most of us haven’t done real work for a day in our spoiled rotten lives, and most of our kids have been fatherless—what few kids there were.
The USA over the next 10 years is our product.
I know. But the term he came up with fits the MSM to a T. They are irrationally exuberant about Obama.
And remember, Greenspan was humping Ayn Rand.
Well, I work at a public high school in California. We can’t even get most of our students to do homework. Their spelling is atrocious. Many don’t even know they have to put a period at the end of a sentence. And a lot of them can’t read cursive!
I am also fearful about the future productivity of our young workforce.

The result?
