Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday unveiled a

It is not a matter of being dumb. The GOP establishment favors big government. Both parties are playing games with us. Good cop, bad cop.
what did he say about Mcconnell’s plan?
I will vote for Sarah Palin if I have to write in four electors from NH - and I’m glad I don’t live in California.
What spending has he undertaken, that is not authorized by a spending law?
He said he understands Mitch’s frustration...nobody wants to default...it’s not the only plan out there in case they don’t come to an agreement...everybody agrees there needs to be a backup plan... He said it will never pass the House, that many Republican House members will never support an increase in the debt limit under any circumstances.
Boehner was weak, I thought. Definitely didn’t come off as a someone arguing from a position of strength. Definitely sounded as if he wants to raise the debt limit.
McConnell = sucker first class
playing poker with him is to play with an unarmed brainless idiot.
For instance, were czars authorized by a spending law?
I think some of these republicans were ALWAYS going to sell us out. McConnell is always looking for a way out.
This taking away the social security argument is 100% BS designed to fool the rubes.
McConnel should resign any leadership post IMMEDIATLY.
no more trent lott, no more mccain.
no more senate country club.
AFAIK, their salaries and staffs operate within an executive budget authorized by Congress. If not, Congress has the power to trim the money. IIRC, Congress toyed with the subject of making it illegal to use allocated funds to pay for czars. I assume that never got past the talking stage.
Anyway, those funds are a drop in the bucket. The difference between Congressionally mandated spending and the Congressionally mandated debt limit is Medicate, Medicaid, Defense, Social Security, and entitlements, mostly, with some amount in maintaining regulatory and judicial activity, plus foreign aid.
I'm not giving Obama a pass, by any means - just asserting that Congress created the debt, deficit and spending issues. Under the Constitution, spending and borrowing is a Congressional function.
Cowards.
Yes ! “US Constitution: Congress shall have the power to borrow money.” That is correct. McConnell is not in Congress, he is in the Senate, and this is his SUGGESTION. The House will not pass it, nor will the Senate from what I am hearing. Mitch needs a Conservative primary challenger!
The good news is that I tried every phone and boxes are full or lines are busy. The loading time for the email option sent me off to do another task.
"Three letters come to mind," wrote Michelle Malkin, a conservative commentator. "W.T.F.?!!"
We've been betrayed, once again. Erickson is right, 2014 cannot come soon enough to vote McConnell out of office. I've said it before, I'll say it again, it's time to completely sweep every politician out of Washington, DC. They do not have our best interests in mind, just their own.
Thank you for posting that..I agree.. he did this before and they fell for it early on. Uses this for his advantage..struts his stuff...and makes the rep.s look foolish to say the least.
I’m so disgusted with the Repubs.they have not figured out how to manever around Obamas plays, even when he’s so obvious, or they simply are putting on a show and have no intentions of carrying thru what they say.
PDATE: Grover Norquist clarified his position on McConnells proposal Tuesday night, insisting that he did not, in fact, endorse the plan. Norquist maintains that he supports forcing the president to put a plan in writing, but does not endorse any particular debt limit contingency plan.
Pass that to the Repubs. I would go for that...the way you wrote this looks like everyones a winner and gets what they want.
