Media reports today are that a target of $2.4 trillion in deficit reductions is being negotiated to match an increase in the debt ceiling of $2.4 trillion to get the government funded into early 2013. The 18 months of borrowing from August 2011 through February 2013 works out to an annual rate of $1.6 trillion. That means the current deal allows for more deficit spending than FY 2011 ($1.5 trillion) and much more than the White House proposed earlier this year for FY 2012 ($1.1 trillion).
The proposed deficit reductions are spread out over the next ten years and appears to be non-existent for the current Congress and president. In other words, this Congress and president have authority only to finance FY 2012 (begins Oct. 1, 2011) and FY 2013 (begins Oct. 1, 2012.) and could jack up the deficit another $2.4 trillion. The rest of the deal can be undone by future Congresses and presidents.
Are we being set up to be snookered one more time? It appears so.
If Boehner agrees to this, and the Republicans go along with it, the Republican Party, at least as it currently exists, is FINISHED.
Many of the Tea Party Representatives in the House and a few of the Tea Party Senators are liable to break off from the Republicans and go independent, or the Tea Party may just DEMAND a leadership coup IMMEDIATELY in one or BOTH chambers and a Tea Party revolt in the Primaries AGAIN.
In either case, the Republicans, if they fail to STAND this time, are DONE. NO MORE RINO crap. No more compromisinivg away something for NOTHING. No more giving away EVERYTHING and getting NOTHING in return.

They are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Interesting: a fight mostly between private interests and local public interests within the same party, and the private interests don’t realize which other constituents they’re competing against for the attentions of their politicians.
All I can say is, if you don't know by now, you ain't been paying attention.
vastly accelerated by FDR, LBJ, GWB, and now BHO. There now- all fixed.
Taxes Upon Taxes Upon . . . Obama wants $1 trillion in taxes on top of what he's already signed.
These people need to go.
“$2.4 trillion to get the government funded into early 2013.”
Planned right in time for Vampire-Care implementation.
The RATs want to continue spending until America is worse off than Zimbabwe. The PUBs are only too happy to let them. Now comes the pleas for more money, in the form of donations, to the RNC from none other than Paul “I’ll cut spending by having larger deficits” Ryan. He wants the money to “help elect more people who believe as we do”.
PUBs are headed for third party status and it could come as early as next year. My message to RNC: “HELL NO! SHOW ME THE CUTS NOW”
And spending 50% less than the ‘rats propose IS NOT A CUT!
Urkle lies.
The Democrats’ plan would reduce Federal spending by less than 10% a year from a bloated baseline (after having caused an explosion in such spending), with absolutely no enforcement mechanism to prevent the Democrats from reneging on the promised cuts as early as next year. And they will.
