Cheers.
For some reason the libs werent so outraged when Obaama served $399 bottles of wine at his taxpayer-funded state dinner
but Libs today were stunned and outraged that popular conservative Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) ordered a $350 bottle of wine for dinner in New York.
TPM reported, via Ann Althouse:
When [Professor Feinberg] saw the label on the bottle of Jayer-Gilles 2004 Echezeaux Grand Cru Ryans table had ordered, she quickly looked it up on the wine list and saw that it sold for an eye-popping $350, the most expensive wine in the house along with one other with the same pricetag.
Feinberg, an economist by training, was even more appalled when the table ordered a second bottle .
We were just stunned, said Feinberg
She was outraged

According to a guest on Neal Cavuto today, someone else at the table bought the wine and he also reminded the audience that Ryan is a congressman who sleeps on a cot in his office to cut expenses.
He also told the audience that the professor person worked for Kerry when he ran against Bush and yet had nothing to say when the “haughty, french looking” senator kept his new yacht berthed in RI instead of his home state of MA to avoid paying higher taxes.
Just more some animals are more equal than others.
Compensation of the Legislative Branch is also Constitutionally mandated. See Article I, Section VI.
v/s congress whom have, for the most part, higher salaries than the private sector (us) and have perks which only you and I could dream of: i.e. top medical attention (located in their particular buildings btw), top retirement plans (paid for by us) and top salaries.
As a military retiree, I can safely say that there is a significant portion of the population that believes the military to be overly compensated, especially in terms of medical attention, retirement plans (also paid for by you), and salaries. That shouldn't give them the right to opine on how or where I choose to spend my retirement dollars. It is MY property, and it is legally obtained.
The difference for me is that folks like Obama and Pelosi live large and stick it to the taxpayer to support their extravagant lifestyle. A Congressman who pays for whatever he wishes from his own funds is none of my business, just as how I spend my retirement check is nobody else's.
I am actually more concerned with how welfare and food stamp recipients spend tax dollars that they do absolutely NOTHING to earn. That they should be able to eat better than you or I can probably afford to, and STILL have more disposable income than I (and perhaps you, too) outrages me FAR more than a public servant who actually (and AT LEAST) gets out of bed before noon every day occasionally splurging on a fancy bottle of wine.
My two cents.
Peace. Out.
I think we are in agreement and if this had not been Paul Ryan, there would have been no objection to my comments at all. In fairness to Ryan, it sounds like he was blindsided regarding this situation; both with the bill and with the witch who wrote this garbage.
Of course it’s your money. You earned it but that is not the issue. As you correctly pointed out, some (majority imo) are living on the high hog off of your and mine tax dollars and what they can’t drunkenly burn through, they give away. That was my point. ALL of them should have their salaries cut by at least 30% and retirements...well those should be eliminated. Once they leave congress it is adios amigo. Same with Presidents. It’s outrageous that we still pay for them once they are out of office. What the hell?? And then they want to increase the tax rate, eliminate the tiny tax deductions offered to you and I but they continue on their spending binges.
IMO and it’s more of a ‘dream’ (hey...without dreams you die...so I’ve heard) these people, Repubics included should be taken out into the town square and hung. They are crashing our system.
Bless your heart.
I just had some Samuel Adams, it was ok. I do like some of the premium wines from small wineries such as Wiederkehr of Arkansas, or Sonnenberg of Canadaigua, New York. I make a point of visiting every winery that I can, but when I have a wine or a beer, it needs to taste good, not like that battery acid that comes from California.
Apparently not....
And tell me where you ordered it...and how it tasted.
"Zeal only uses the finest quaility artificially flavored grape substitutes crushed beneath the feet of wine experts at their leper colony in southeast Malaysia"
The last one was order through a place called Winerack here in town and that was last NYE,why? No idea when the next one will be and it tastes very good. Why does it matter what I spend my money on?
Sorry, but I can’t afford drinking more than one glass!!!
When you’re real thirsty!!!
Who???
Hope you participate donate to F.R/!!!
Go ZEAL, GO!!
LOL I’m just kidding. You should invest in a good bottle and you will enjoy!
Boutique or name wines will bring what they bring....
But once again...a $300 dollar bottle of wine..isn't moderately priced.
BTW, I could careless what you do with your money...unless you are spending it with me. Then I care. Ha!!
Hey just wanted to say thanks for the retraction/apology...
unfortunately - Ryan was defensive and apologetic.
He should have said “why are you stalking me while we’re celebrating my friend’s birthday?”
Yeah - he was buying stuff for his friends - with his own money.
