I agree with you 100%. These cameras are a revenue scam, i.e. legalized theft.

You must be proud of your 19th century viewpoint in a 21st century world.

I heard the exact same things from people here about Sharon Angle and O’Donnell and a bunch of others in 2010. I told them in 2010 they were crazy, and I was right. It’s one thing to win a primary and be loved to the core by the base. It’s quite another to win a general election.

With all due respect, and acknowledging your accurate observations about Angle and O'Donnell, Sarah Palin is in a completely different league than those two candidates. The playing fields of their respective battles are quite different, as well.

In a nutshell, Palin has a quality of character, and a track record of accomplishment that set her apart from the pack. She has a latent level of support among the public that is gargantuan, but remains untapped and unmeasured, only due to the fact that she hasn't officially declared her run for office. She is also feared by the opposition to a degree little seen in our lifetimes.

In short, she is without question, the most formidable Republican challenger that most of us have seen in decades. She will win the nomination, if she runs, and I believe that she will squash Obama like a bug in the general election.

It would take me far too long to lay out the many, many observations that have led me to this conclusion, so suffice it to say that I've seen an overwhelming amount of evidence that indicates this outcome to me.

I don't know what data you're using to support your conclusion, but I can almost bet that you've failed to factor in all of the available evidence.

I think you're going to lose money on your bet this time, Fred. It'll be some of the best money you ever spent :-)

Sarah needs no excuses or apologies...

Whether or not she needs them, many of her fans feel compelled to make excuses for her time and time again. In any case, if Palin is going to run for president as a Republican, she has, at most, another eight weeks to make up her mind and announce. She has yet to do any of the really critical preparatory things necessary for a credible candidate, however. Other candidates are well ahead of her in this regard. Well ahead.

Just some examples:

There are legal and filing requirements at the federal level and in each of the 50 states. Those requirements have deadlines. No one just announces and presto! They are magically on all those ballots. The candidate needs to hire the appropriate attorneys and/or surrogates in each state to do the necessary work. The candidate needs an organization of campaign offices in or near every congressional district in every state. Those offices need to be staffed both by hired employees and volunteers. Phones need to be set up, voter registration rolls need to be acquired and updated, volunteers need to be organized, campaign materials (signs, handouts, position papers, etc.) need to be created, approved, printed and distributed. A campaign strategy needs to be planned out in detail. The campaign needs to hire advance people, security, and various other aides. The tactics of the campaign need to be planned at least a few weeks in advance so that the candidate can make appropriate appearances, travel arrangements can be made, hotels and venues booked, and so on.

To date, Palin is not doing any of these preparatory things. Sure, she took that half-hearted bus tour. But that didn't last long or accomplish much of substance. Now I know from reading comments on FR that many of her supporters think she can wait until late in the fall. Not possible. By then the other candidates will be so far ahead in terms of organization, fund raising, planning, commitments from key state people, etc., that Palin would be at an enormous disadvantage. For her to jump in so late, alone, would tell me (and many others) all I need to know about her character, management style and seriousness.

In short, there's a reason why it's called a CAMPAIGN.

-"Seems beyond hypocritical that we don’t do it to Palin. She quit on her state."

Tell me, is that what you call other Governors who have "resigned" before their elected terms are up? - or is it just Palin?

She’ll be announcing before Labor Day, hopefully around the beginning of August. Bob

Since 1900, only three governors have quit in their first term.....Jim McGeevy, Elliot Spitzer and Sarah Palin(™).

She’d have to fire almost everyone in DC and start over. She’d have to shut down or gut huge agencies.

One of my three points of getting real economic recovery--along with gutting the gutting income tax system to replace it with at minimum the Steve Forbes flat income tax plan and putting an end to the financial shenanigans of Wall Street--is to aggressively audit every Federal, state and local government agency for bureaucratic overlap, agency bloat and excessive regulations and cut the size of government by 30% as soon as possible. We can start by merging Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other social service agencies into a singular Department of Social Services, a move that could cut around US$250 to US$350 BILLION per year off the Federal budget.

And it's way overdue; the Federal budget is literally sucking the life out of the US economy in general. And Sarah Palin would be courageous enough to announce such a massive restructuring of the Federal government.

Two of those resigned because of sleezy sex scandals they brought on themselves.

Sarah was hounded from office by rats - who could have cared less about what they were doing to their own state - and figured they couldn’t lose. Sue her to death and bankrupt her, paralyze the workings of state government, then use the fact that she couldn’t get anything done against her. You gonna let them get away with that???? You going to play their game, be their mouthpiece????

Not me!

That’s why I didn’t say there was an automated speed camera. But let’s remove it from just speeding. Let’s talk about coming home and finding signs of a forced entry. Are you saying that since you don’t catch someone in the act, he’s immune? No. The evidence is there, and if it’s discovered later, the case still can proceed, even if the person isn’t still inside your place.

In this case, the accuser would still be “faceable”, even after the perp is out of office or out of the burglared dwelling or whatever.

There are legal and filing requirements at the federal level and in each of the 50 states. Those requirements have deadlines.

So? Her campaign missed the Texas deadline last year (as did the Obama-Biden campaign), yet that didn't mean anything. Some don't have to follow the rules.

Simple. Just pit him against a candidate who polling is far, far more toxic. Just pit him against a GOP nominee that 65% of all voters have stated that they will "definitely NOT" vote for. Just pit him against Sarah Palin.

I'm guessing that's why those on the left who are into politics are hoping she runs, while those in the middle I talk with just roll their eyes and hope she doesn't run...?

Libs and liberal media love putting Palin, a non-candidate, out there as the face of the opposition while ignoring bona fide candidates who have something to say, reliable resumes and who CAN win!!!

For the libs, she is the gift that keeps on giving.

RE :”What's funny is that now everytime I see “PDS” written, I think of the deranged Palinista cultists, not their targets. It's not as if I dislike Sarah Palin...after all, I was posting in support of her before many had even heard of her

Look
I didnt post that she shouldnt run.
I didnt post that she cant win.
I didnt post that ‘she quit’.
I didnt post anything critical of her on this thread, nor do I post those ideas on other threads either.

So what was my 'thought' crime that set the three attack dogs (including the sleeper) on me calling me a PDSer and ignorant troll and accused me of nasty comments? It appeared to be this question I posted (follow the comment tracebacks to verify the below) :

My thought crime at #369
attack response 1 at #370 'Are you going to start this crap again? ' by the sleeper.
attack response 2 at #395 'Shut up, you ignorant troll. ' by the sleeper's partner
attack response 3 at #482 ' He hangs around the Palin threads and makes his nasssty comments ' by the sleeper's other partner, yep nasty, but yet he cant find one.
