Democrats, watch out.
The Republican Party and especially its Tea Party wing have just acquired a new weapon of mass destruction and it has nothing to do with any of Congressman Wieners rogue body parts. If they deploy this weapon effectively in the next election cycle a big if then they have the biggest opportunity to move the country rightward since Ronald Reagan took the oath of office back in 1981.
The Tea Party WMD stockpile is currently stored in book form: Reckless Endangerment: How Outsized Ambition, Greed, and Corruption Led to Economic Armageddon. By Gretchen Morgenson, one of Americas best business journalists who is currently at The New York Times, and noted financial analyst Joshua Rosner, Reckless Endangerment gives the best available account of how the growing chaos in the mortgage and personal finance markets and the rampant bundling of dubious loans into exotically toxic securities plunged the world, and millions of American families, into the gravest financial crisis since World War Two. It is gripping reading as well, and its explanations are clear enough that readers without any background in finance will have no trouble following the plot. The villains? An unholy alliance between Wall Street, the Democratic establishment, community organizing groups like ACORN and La Raza, and politicians like Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Henry Cisneros. (Frank got a cushy job for a lover, Pelosi got a job and layoff protection for a son, Cisneros apparently got a license to mint money bilking Mexican-Americans of their life savings in cheesy housing developments.)

Don't post a comment till you've read the entire story.
If true, this book contains the smoking gun we've been looking for about who and what caused the economic meltdown of 2008.
It may become required reading for every Tea Partier.
Sorry, but 95% of the U.S. is glued to Wiener, and other trivialities.
Let them have... Bread!
and...
Circuses!
It worked in Rome, right up until the end. Likely, it will here too.
crickets from the GOP.
How right you are. Sad.
Nice, but the trail has already been laid and not many followed. Can I get that in a sitcom? oh wait, that would be a resounding NO!!!
forgot to add...Where is my damn check?!?! I been waiting for days!
My hope is that we can nominate an "outsider" that will use this information to begin the long process of cleaning house inside the Beltway.
I currently like Herman Cain, but will keep an open mind to the possibility of some other "outsider" who can save America from the "Federal Government Leviathan"

The easiest job in the world will be writing adds for the GOP this next election cycle. The question is, will the GOP use any of the good ones?
Most all us Freepers new much of this story but the GOP is too ineffective to get any message out, even a simple message such as the 2003 tax cuts were not just for the rich.
I don’t hold my breath for the GOP to get this message out.
100% correct.

Just because it involves his private parts doesn't make it any less corrupt and dishonest.
Perhaps the difference now is:
(1) This is documented by a NYT reporter, previously it was too easy for the left to call just a right wing conspricy theory
(2) The Tea Party is in full swing. There are now millions of citizens involved and willing to push the story from the bottom up
“crickets from the GOP.” If you dig deep enough you’ll find some high level RINOs had their hands in this mess too. Kick the career politicians out.
Considering how theyve gotten away with murder the past 50 years, I'll believe it when I see it.
And who was in charge of the housing HAMP bail-out?
Fannie. Who was much more interested in using the program to churn millions in mod fees, than in saving homes.
Well, the more the ‘arrogant one’ appears in the news, the more we are distracted from what’s really important. I hope he stays on and they drag it out, but jobs, the economy, national security, the border, etc. is being slighted by the media (who’da guessed?)...
