More Americans Think Economy Will Never Recover

The mixed signals regarding the economy's health are taking a toll.
About 10 percent of Americans say they never expect their spending to return to pre-recession levels.
Americans are growing increasingly doubtful about direction of the US economy, according to the latest survey from business-advisory firm AlixPartners.
In fact, an increasing number, some 61 percent, say they don't expect to return to their respective pre-recession lifestyles until the spring of 2014, if ever.
What's worse, a full 10 percent said they expect they will never return to pre-recession spending.
That's a more pessimistic view than last year, when those surveyed expected that they could be back to pre-recession spending levels by the middle of 2013.
"Americans continue to push their expectations for return to a pre-recession 'normal' further and further into the futureclose enough for comfort, but far enough away to seem realistic," said Fred Crawford, CEO of AlixPartners. "But as that happens, more and more it seems normal is actually where we are right now."

I see somebody is still in denial.
P!
Well, I guess that IS "more" than 9% or 8%.
Well, good. It was their pre-recession lifestyle that led to the post-pre-recession mess we're in now, isn't it?
Liberalism is stupid.
Let’s hope this economy never recovers and we go back to free enterprise, tariffs and small government. Boot the federal reserve out of the country and prohibit politicians from participating in the G8, the WTO or any of that other crap.
As long as we have an inexperienced person in the white house, we are not going to solve this problem. That man has no right being in that office and the people who voted for him have no right to be intelligent emough to vote.
Hope. Change.
GRAM-mar.
They have that right, they simply don't have that ABILITY.
I think it will. Just not with Socialists, in either Party, in control.
I don’t think the American economy will recover until we change the minset of the American people. Americans seem to believe that being the wealthiest economy on earth is a “given” and that if the country is wealthy then it should “take care” of all of its citizens. There simply is no sense of economic responsibilty with most Americans but instead a there’s sense of economic privledge.
Another thing that Americans need to realize is that Keynesian economics simply doesn’t work.
Until the mindset on both of those issues is changed, America will continue its decline into irrelevancy. Its a sad reality but a reality nonetheless.
Obama is doing this intentionally!
Obama hates America, the Constitution, Capitalism, Democracy, Christianity, and Israel.
There are no Obama policies or agenda items that contradict my assertions.
Occasionally, he talks a different tune, but his actions betray him.
Lets go from pessimistic to realistic. Ask yourself how much damage has been done to our freedom. Economically it will take at least a generation to recover unless you want to donate your income at 100% for a year to clean it up. And the longer this idiotic crap goes on from the Federal right down to the local government the harder it will be to reverse if ever. Complacency has ruined this Country. We have been boxed in as slaves to an elite system of Government.
Shoot Paul Krugman for starters.:-)
I hope you’re right. However the media won’t stop the heat on her, as evidence with the Paul Revere statement.
"Mission Accomplished" - Barrack Hussein Obama, mmmm mmmm mmmm
There are too many inconvenient human beings for the ruling-class to be able to live in the Walden Utopia they deserve.
We control our own destiny. Or at least we used to.
Wonder if a Bill Gates type would survive today.
