House Delays Vote on Resolution to Pull U.S. Forces Out of Libya
WASHINGTON (AP)
Posted: 4:08 PM Jun 1, 2011

The House has delayed a vote on a resolution pulling the U.S. military out of Libya.

The measure's chief sponsor, Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio, says President Barack Obama and the Republican leadership are trying to buy time to build support for the war.

In a statement, Kucinich said the GOP leadership told him the vote, slated for Wednesday, had been delayed to obtain more information and consult with the administration.

Kucinich says Obama violated the War Powers Act requiring congressional authorization 60 days after the start of military operations. His resolution would direct the president to remove the U.S. forces from Libya within 15 days of the measure's adoption. Obama backs a Senate resolution supporting the U.S. role in the NATO-led operation.

Kucinich says Obama violated the War Powers Act

That's a shame.

Yes.

It is a shame that only a liberal wimp like Kucinich has the testacles to call a spade a spade.

Obama is violating the war powers act - just as he has violated numerous other rules, laws, etc.

He’s a law breaker - just like the illegal aliens he loves so much. But unilke them, he is ensconced in the White House.

Lack of leadership, guts and integrity. Maybe they should all go on a long drive like the Wisconsin delegation...REALLY shirk their responsibilities.

The GOP, at least those who question our involvement in Libya’s civil war, should be joining Kucinich in supporting this resolution.

The Republicans are stupid, stupid, stupid. Same damned thing they did when clinton went into Yugoslavia. Bush even handed Kosovo over to the Albanian thugs after clinton left office.

We are fighting this war on the wrong side, with no explanations of why it is in our national interest, and they can’t be bothered even to question it.

I don’t expect much from Boehner, but where’s Michelle Bachman?

Excellent cowardice on the part of the REPUBLICAN leadership.
Such weak decisions make a successful third party even more likely.
It is hard to pick a politically correct slur with which to smudge the REPUBLICAN leaders.
They may be the last REPUBLICAN majority in history.
Run, Sarah, Run!!!

You've got that right.

How odd it is that the one person to step forward and defend of the Constitution is Dennis Kucinich! Where are all the limited-government Republicans? Do they have no courage at all?

Don’t get too enthusiastic over Ku Ku Kucinich. He does have stopped-clock syndrome.

Kucinich is right. Obama believes that the law and the Constitution do not apply to him.

NATO has decided to extend its mandate another 90 days on Libya. Instead of ending in June, now September.
