In Benton Township, Michigan, two armed robbers wearing masks burst into a near-deserted Walgreens at 4:30 a.m.
Drawing his own gun, he fired at the attackers and drove them off, saving not just himself but two Walgreens co-workers.
By way of saying thanks, Walgreens fired him last week.
Township police Lt. Delman Lange, after reviewing surveillance video, told the local paper, "If it was me, I would have done the same thing."
Kosick says local residents are solidly behind his client. "I'd say 95 percent are in favor of what he did. It's really outraged people. Not just gun advocates but people on the street. They stop and tell me they'd have done the same thing, only they wouldn't have missed. They're outraged by what Walgreen has done. They're talking boycott, saying they will take their business to CVS or Wal-Mart."

Should have given him a medal instead.

We would land there and then drive through the "city" to get to St. Joe, so we could eat at Clemetines or Hi's.
Colder than anything, 90 degree cross winds and hoodlums.........I sure don't miss that place.
Actually they don’t really mind if you shoot bad guys, it’s the risk of you shooting non-bad guys that would drive their insurance rates through the roof. Armed employees is bad math for almost anybody.
You’ll have to become a mountain man. Every drugstore, fastfood joint, grocery store, gas station and convenience store in the country has the exact same rule. And they have for at least 30 years.
“If I had to work in Benton Harbor I would want to take several guns to work and have a ballistic vest . BH is a monument to what the welfare state can create. It is New Orleans with bad weather and lousy food. The residents are disproportionally subhuman.”
You understand liberal Michigan well. Can I quote you?
The one tidbit I’d include is dragging that Berkeley troglodyte commie bitch Granholm back to Michigan and hanging her for treason.
Nope. Your wrong with regards to small towns like mine...my pharmacist is packin a 1911A1....I shoot with him. Small towns don’t follow such BS rules. Yes the chains have such as you state but I don’t dwell in such places unless forced to shop for something my local grocery etc... Do not have on the shelves.
Single site small town places don’t have to deal with the insurance. It’s the insurance companies that push this, they’re terrified of employees and bad guys getting into shootouts killing dozens of innocents.
Little businesses buy insurance too and somehow don’t seem to be forbidden to carry self defense weapons. Best explanation I heard is that Walgreens, due to its size, is a jackpot seeking lawsuit magnet. But again, their size allows them to self insure, so it’s a wash.
All the little independent drugstores in the town should be clamoring to hire this guy.
They are a magnet for big lawsuits. And they probably don’t self insure, too many things can go wrong on too many levels for a company like that to self insure. The slip-n-fall guys alone will keep them from self insuring.
I doubt this guy will have a hard time getting work if he’s any good. It’s just part of the world, all the franchises have these rules, break them and get fired, but on some level the manager likes people that’ll break these rules, even if he’ll have to fire the guy next time.
FYI - Walgreen owns CVS. That's why you always see them together, on opposite corners.
Walgreens and CVS aren’t related at all.
“Work at walgreens and take your life in your hands.”
As a former employee, I can tell you that they are more concerned about employee theft and bad publicity (publicly traded you know) than the safety and welfare of employees. I always urged my wife to SUE HARD when/if I met with misfortune as I was not able to protect myself or my department staff due to house rules.
You’re right - I did some further checking. Thanks for the tip!
I didn’t see any mention of the Federal Gov’s part in this except here:

Exerpt: Yet, despite all the evidence about the benefits from owning guns for protection and the extremely law-abiding, problem free behavior of permit holders, the Federal OSHA regulations forbid employers letting employees carry guns with them in the workplace. The notion is that banning guns will prevent gun-related workplace injuries, but gun bans dont work out as government regulators would like. Customers with permitted concealed handguns are allowed to take their guns with them into Walgreens, but when this crime occurred there werent any customers in the store. Walgreens policy means that the only people with guns inside of their stores might very well be criminals.

If “Federal OSHA regulations forbid employers letting employees carry guns with them in the workplace” Congress needs to step in and change those regulations. National civil rights groups like SAS, GOA, JPFO, and the NRA need to be all over this.
