Although there is no bus tonight due to the Memorial Day weekend there were more uniformed soldiers leaving on foot than we usually see.
Most of the evening passing cars gave us loud honks and waves. Our flags and signs were in good hands. Meanwhile TammyCat and VictoryNY loudly express Support for our Troops. We were joined by Diane, mother of a wounded warrior, Allen. She is proudly holding the 82nd Airborne DN flag. We hope to see her again and wish Allen the best in his recovery.
We had a good group this evening and filled the four corners all night even during a severe cloud burst. These storms come late in the day with high winds, black clouds, rain and lightning. After grabbing ponchos and umbrellas we stayed on the corners. The storm passed in 30 minutes or so.
Memorial Day weekend is a great time to be in Washington DC. Rolling Thunder, in its 24th year, continues to arrive with tens of thousands of riders. Wreath laying ceremonies and patriotic memorials of remembrance are held throughout the DC area, and of course, Rolling Thunders Big Ride down Constitution Avenue on Sunday starts at noon. Rolling Thunder demands the accountability of our prisoners of war / missing in action. We Will Never Forget.
Next week the Friday night dinner bus will back and so will we.

James and I were glad we could join many other Florida patriots in giving some Walter Reed heroes a big Sunshine State welcome to Sarasota this past Monday. These wounded warriors were arriving here for a mini vacation through the Operation Second Chance organization, and all through donations to the organization and local Sarasota businesses.

Yesterday we joined some Freeper friends and other Sarasota patriots in a Tribute To Our Military rally. Honks from passing traffic was wonderful! We knew every honk was saying “God Bless our Military!”
Looking forward to seeing you all in July!
God bless our wounded heros and their courageous families, and all of you who, week in and week out, show how much we care for them. This Memorial Day, we honor their sacrifice for our freedoms. We will never forget.
WOW! IT’S LEGS! YEE HAW!
BTW, don’t tell Troop about my outburst. Wouldn’t want him to get too puffed up.
Thanks for the terrific video of your Sarasota wounded warrior Second Chance event.
Seeing the wounded warriors in person and just talking with them is most meaningful to them.
Don’t worry, Trooprally will weigh in. He has been anticipating this (wearing burmudas) since last fall.
Shucks, dagnabit, glad I was not wearing a spido!! (spelling any one??) You would have had a heart attack. Of course being modest, I would never wear a spido.
Kburi is correct, I have been waiting for warm weather for a while. With WR closing soon, no more cold weather FReeps, no more leaving a nice warm house when it is dark, knowing that for the next 3-4 hours it will be dark and cold, maybe snowing.
I remember our first real cold freezing night in 2005. The pizza was frozen by the time we packed up and got ready to leave. That was the last time pizza was order when we knew the temps were going to be low.
[Mr] T
God bless you all for the work you are doing.
Wish I could be with you.

Well, I’m happy to see your lovely legs once more because it does mean that warm weather is here for awhile. Temperature gage legs. Speedo? LOL.
Maryland PING!
Thanks for your post.
Read your profile.
I landed in Ben Hoa on 2/7/68. I was to report to a SF HQ in Nha Trang but it was overrun a week or two before. So I ended up deep in the jungle on the Burmese/Thai border supporting SF.
Anyway tet68, altho I am US Army, I respect the USMC big time and thank you for your service.
Hope we cross paths some day.
Kburi
I 2nd Kburi’s post, thank you for your service.
I tell the soldiers that I see at Walter Reed and other places that we are here for them because we let our Vietnam vets down. So our Friday nights are also for you. Again, thank you for your service.
Semper Fi from a Marine Dad of a BAM (5 years service in the late 90s) and active duty son, now a Gunny, CID, and NCIS when they need him. Just bragging as a proud father should.
[Mr] T
Glad to get a smile from you. More “leggs” next week. Take care.
[Mr] T
As well you should.
Oooorah and Semper Fi!
t.
Thank you ALL for being there.
great pictures...the storm was very threatening, but gave you warning! I like the photo of the hospital,( MrsT) how about another one next time? It was a nice change and I bet many do not know the “look” of the facility.
As always, “DC FREEPERS ROCK”!
See you soon and add to the “legs”!
