Prayers UP. He left behind a 3-day-old daughter, and his body will be left on the mountain.

The important thing is that he almost got to be the 3,527th person to scale Everest.
That's worth dying for.

As good a place to die as any.

Bummer. I was in correspondence with him on occasion. I’ll be praying for his family.

Altitude sickness or similar. 50 yards or so from the summit.

NO cheers, unfortunately.

He’d be more likely remembered if he had a scrotum bolt installed. Now that’d be a true first. And who cares about Everest? After Hillary and Norgay no one else really matters.

Yes, it happened because climbing a mountain was more important to him than being with his wife while she was having their child.

You put it in perspective!
I never understood this hobby. Seems a waste to me.
Best book I ever read in one day, “Into Thin Air”.

Around a 5% chance of dying. Not worth it to me.

I guess that Everest was on his Bucket List, then Everest kicked his bucket.

Was he on his way down or had he not yet reached the summit? Human beings were not designed for nearly 30,000 feet. They don’t call that the death zone for nothing.

His wife was expecting a child, and he decided to go climb a mountain?
His poor little girl will grow-up knowing that her daddy’s pleasure was more important than she was. There is an argument to be made that it’s better for her to grow up without such an influence in her life.
