Herman Cain leads presumed frontrunner Mitt Romney as the top choice of Republican primary voters in the race for the 2012 Presidential nomination. Among all voters, no one in a list of 13 possible GOP candidates leads President Barack Obama.

Rove and the RINO’s will not tolerate this and will destroy any candidate except a liberal.
Do not expect party support or RINO support if a conservative wins the nomination. They are duplicitous, back stabbing globs of goat snot, devoid of honor or loyalty, in a word-—LIBERALS.
You’re complaining because you think that Ron Paul’s supporters have a message?
You haven’t mentioned anything that I’ve said that is untrue.
It’s a fact that the Fed is an elite institution.
It’s a fact that establishment Republicans think more highly of people with elite credentials.
It’s a fact that Cain has those elite credentials.
Unfortunately for Cain, that particular elite credential (Chairman of the Kansas City Fed) is one that many tea partiers (the ones who distrust the Fed) will not like.
But there are a lot of republicans, establishment Republicans, who do trust the Fed.
I think what you’re trying to say is that you’d prefer if the more difficult parts of Cains resume not be talked about as much when you’re trying to get votes from tea partiers.
I’m not criticizing Cain at all. It takes a lot of hard work and ideological trustworthiness to get to be the Chairman of the Kansas City Fed. Like any job, some people are going to like you more because you had the job and some people are going to like you less.
It just seems that when you’re the ex-Chairman of the Kansas City Fed, you might want to target for votes the types of people who like the fed (and there are a lot) instead of those who distrust the fed (and there are also a lot).
But, the political controversy surrounding the Fed aside, the Fed is still an elite institution, and establishment Republicans will give him credit for getting such a great job (even if they don’t have a clear opinion one way or another about the merits of the Fed - they know it’s an elite job, and establishment Republicans think highly of people with elite jobs. (It’s a problem Palin has, actually).
>> His name being mentioned as a future candidate is not the same as actually preparing for such or run- or making it a goal that one works towards.<<
Some men are born to greatness. Others have it foisted upon them.
>>there is no doubt that I would rather have a man of principle and integrity in office making decisions than politicos that will govern based on their own self interests- no matter how much more knowledge they have on foreign affairs...<<
We ask only from a President that he have a vision of America’s ROLE in international affairs. The current holder of the office has decided that the USA has been an evil empire supporting the evil Israel and that “American Exceptionalism” is just jingoism.
I am sure we all agree that Cain understands what America’s role in the world should be: a leader and purveyor of good — to be respected by our friends and feared by our enemies.
I envy your association with Mr. Cain.
Tokyo and Kraut will be pushing TPaw 24/7 now.
Just give me a quote, where I said anything negative about Cain.
I said he had great elite credentials as Chairman of the Kansas City Fed.
I said that Romney fans would love Cain, because of the elite credentials.
What’s the problem? Those are compliments.
What quote did I say about Palin?

It wasn't more than a few weeks ago that Cain detractors were claiming he had no chance of winning the nomination.
Any Republican nominee will have a chance to beat an incumbent President that only 42% of the nation believes deserves to be reelected. And, candidate with charisma and superior oratory skills has the best chance of beating him.
complaining?
nah— doing housework and trying to help you out— thought you would be smart enough to pick up on that...sry to waste your and my time...
good luck on that Ron Paul campaign and those tactics...
I’m saying right now that Cain has no chance of winning the nomination. But he’s not special in that regard. None of the candidates that no one knows are going to win the Republican nomination. Democrats often nominate a fresh face, Republicans don’t.
You claim he is an elitist and not a conservative because he was chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.
bingo!
we understand what is really at stake here in our country and what it will take to fix it....
as my association with Herman— God has blessed me with many great people in my life....Herman is just one, but the best of the best....I talked to him the day before he “officially” started his exploratory committee...I wish I had known it was the last time I would be able to just pick up the phone and call him! But I do know he reads my emails...either that, or he is reading my mind!!!!
;-)
You also said earlier that Cain was ONLY a one percenter and had no chance of even being a candidate.
Looks like you had better find some sort of good marinade that goes well with Crow.
That’s great, I’m helping you give advice to Cain (target those people who will appreciate elite credentials).
But I’m not on Free Republic to talk about Ron Paul too much.
I’ve been here since 2000, and I talk about many things, including Sarah Palin, who I think would romp if she ran (at least that seems like the most plausible explicit scenario).
I also have opinions on Cain, and Bachmann.
I actually have Cain as my 4th favorite, after Paul, Palin and Bachmann. And I didn’t put Cain at the Fed, he did. And the controversy over the Fed has been going on for many years. There are certainly some people who like the Fed explicitly who are establishment Republicans (even Conservative Establishment Republicans), and even more, who are uncertain where they stand on the Fed, who will respect that an elite credential like KC Fed Chair means that the elites have approved Cain, and they like that.
Cain should target Romney voters and establishment Republicans and use the Fed job to do it, rather than get upset when someone talks about it.
I’d much rather see Tea Party Conservative Ron Paul (or Sarah Palin) vs Establishment Conservative Herman Cain than
Establishment RINO Mitt Romney vs Establishment Conservative
Herman Cain.
John Bolton was on our talk radio station this morning. He said the Dem slime machine is already working behind the scenes gathering information on potential GOP candidates. He said they have already scared off several. They are working on Christie’s background now....
Obama’s hope and change are gone. He will have to run on his record this time. It is incomprehensible that he could win.....
Call him a elitist is a negative and you know it spam monkey.
Now how about you answer my question spam monkey?
Link to that “one percent”?
I would’ve said that Cain would not win the Republican Primary, because only people who are well known at the start of the process ever win the Republican Primary. Cain is not the only one who isn’t famous enough right now to win in 2012.
I actually have a “favorable” opinion of Cain. Not a “strongly favorable” but a “favorable”. He’s not a Romney, not close. But, like I’ve said before, there are Establishment Conservatives. Conservatives who do like elite credentials.
Anyone leading a major poll right now has a chance.
It's insane to claim Ron Paul has a chance to win the nomination and Cain doesn't.
I like Michele Bachmann but Cain is a way ahead of her at this point in regard to being the potential nominee. Right now, only Sarah Palin deciding to run could derail Cain as the conservative frontrunner.
You don’t know the difference between “elite credentials” and “elitist” do you?
Answer to your question: Reset after each election. These are Obama’s wars now. Changed conditions.
I left people off the list that are not running.
Bachmann isn't running. Guliani (sp?) isn't running. Palin isn't running. If and when they get into the race, I'll talk about them, but right now they aren't running.
These 5 can win the nomination - Palin, Romney, Gingrich, Paul, Bachmann
Dude, you say I have poor analytical skills, and you include Ron Paul in a list of people that could win the GOP nomination?
Ron Paul can't win, because he isn't a conventional conservative on social issues and foreign policy, he's a conventional Libertarian.
Supports legalization of drugs (including heroin)
Supports gay marriage
Adovcates a return to a 1930s style isolationists foreign policy
Is a supporter of Code Pink (gave pass to Code Pinko that was screaming from the balcony during Palin convention speech).
Has publicly said America is to blame for 9/11 because of our Middle East policies and support of Israel
Paul's supporters delude themselves that these positions are "no big deal" and conservatives aren't really worried about them, but they are kryptonite to Ron Paul getting the GOP nomination.
Ron Paul will never come close to getting the GOP nomination as long as he holds these positions--NEVER.
LOL!!!— thx for your help—
He doesn’t get upset about bringing up the FED— I DO!!!
He knows, I told him so. We shall see if he takes it seriously enough to address.... I love Ron— he loses me on a few issues— not the concept of his stand, but the practicality of such policy changes in today’s world....
Foreign policy (military) and drugs are the two that eat at me...
When drug users cease to get public funding help, legalize it! But right now— we are so damned indoctrinated that we NEED government to tell us how we should live, and also convinced that we need to throw money at anyone liberals can muster up sympathy for, that legalizing drugs would be a disaster....there is so much work to be done to get rid of the indoctrination, it feels insurmountable at times...
Question for you!
do you support closing down military bases around the world? If so— help me out. My concern is not that we don’t have troops in Germany— I am fine with no troops in Germany, Japan, etc.... But in today’s world it gives me pause for 2 reasons....
1) it leaves us logistically at a great disadvantage if we need to act quickly against REAL threats (not libyan uprisings).
2) it leaves us at a great disadvantage on intel gathering...I am sure these bases have extensive intel technology monitoring communications in there region....
Would love to hear your thoughts on those...
Thx
