1 JUNEAU, Alaska – A former member of Sarah Palin's inner circle has written a scathing tell-all, saying Palin was ready to quit as governor months before she actually resigned and was eager to leave office when more lucrative opportunities came around.

2 "In 2009 I had the sense if she made it to the White House and I had stayed silent, I could never forgive myself," Frank Bailey told The Associated Press.

3 Palin's attorney did not respond to multiple requests for comment for this story. \

4 "Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years" is due out Tuesday and based on tens of thousands of emails that Bailey said he kept during his time with Palin. It began with working on her 2006 gubernatorial campaign and continued through her failed run for vice president;.......

Well, if all he can accuse her of is personal ambition and a desire to use her (former) position(s) to gain personal wealth it’s rather a case of pot/kettle/black, no?

Well, yeah ... but fairly or not, it also makes her look mercenary and ambitious, which is at odds with the "selfless servant, chosen of God" image that many of her devotees like to portray.

More than that, too: if Mr. Bailey's book says what I predict it will, he's going to paint Palin as not only ambitious, but also as a cynical and vicious politician who used the author himself to do her dirty work.

And if he's really got genuine e-mails to back up his claims, he could spin a story that spells real trouble for her.

Did Obama finish his first term in the US Senate?
Did Hillary finish her second term in the US Senate?

That's not really an apples/apples analogy. It is generally understood that a senator will not finish his term if he's elected president (duh). Likewise, it is also acceptable for a senator to step down to take a cabinet position. Neither of these events occurred with Palin.

We've been over this again and again. Alaska ethics rules require the accused to self-fund their legal defense. Obots and other scallywags were filing DAILY bogus ethics complaints against Gov. Palin (all of which were later dismissed) were driving her to bankruptcy. What would you have her do? What would you have done?

The problem is.....?

The problem is that it was apparently illegal for the RGA to assist her campaign.

The statute of limitations has long since run out ... but that only applies to the enforcement of the law, not public perceptions of same.

“Sarah Palin would look like a stegosaurus if all the knives that were thrown in her back were showing.”

I always ask people, what would Jeffrey Immelt do if he had been the target of the avalanche of trash thrown at SP?

He’d be institutionalized.

“She’s completely vulnerable to the arguement that she’s an opportunist who saw big opportunities for personal enrichmnet ...”

To win she must convincingly refute those impressions and show herself to be more qualified than her competitors. I hope she can do it but am not sure.

I’m sure she’ll enter the primaries. Doesn’t really matter whether or not she wins as she has influence on an enormous number of voters. She just can’t quit.

As someone who has been a member here longer than you, I don’t appreciate the accusation. Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Part of that planning is looking at the possible ammunition you will face in the battle to come.

in the movie kings speech, the king give the speech and then goes to a seperate desk and poses for a PR shot of reading the speech which is far different from the environs of the real speech.

It is not that a politician poses a picture, it is when they try and BS us that it is real.

My assessment is that the treatment she got during the campaign made her as mad as heck. Especially after she did well during the debate and then drew crowds like the one’s she did. Probably she knew she would have a hard time in Alaska, and when the Alaska Democrats made it clear she would have no help from them in dealing with the Murkowski machine, she had to ponder what her options were.

This story is being recycled again? This is at least the 4th time it has made news.

First they spent months if not a year trying to get a publisher and that made news. Second that stalker-pervert McGinness (who moved next door to Palin) leaked the manuscript. Then they got a publisher: from the “Christian” division! Now we get news about this book again. Unreal.

I wonder how long it took Soros to find someone who worked with Palin to say something bad about her and how much he had to cough up to get that someone to write a book on it? I’m sure he combed all her contacts and this was the best he could do...

I believe Bachmann is more “presidential”, and there are other candidates more “qualified”.

What is this word Presidential? When exactly has the buck stopped with Bachmann? Her working as a confiscation attorney for the IRS doesn't count. Otherwise what would make you think she to be a leader of men? When has she shown that? Bachmann is a good conservative and doing a great job where she is.

If what you write is false or misleading (i.e. like the NYT), then it's propaganda disguised as misinformation.

Sheesh, one should know that fact of life by now.

From C4P...
"Right now, it’s around 1:00 PM in Alaska and thus far, not one person in the Alaska media or anyone with access to Frank Bailey’s hilarious manuscript has cited one passage from Frank Bailey that is damaging and substantiated. Bailey claims to have thousands of e-mails from Governor Palin that supposedly substantiate the charges that he levels against her in the manuscript but the Alaska media that has access to the manuscript has failed to cite even one damaging e-mail."

If you had any sense, you would start using our tactics against us. After all, you have a few lawyers on your side. Sue us. File frivolous ethics complaints against all our elected officials until, like Sarah, they go broke from defending themselves.
