American Taliban John Walker Lindh's father wrote this piece in the Sunday New York Times. Frank Lindh writes that his son was apprehended "unarmed and wounded." He also writes that his son "had no involvement with terrorism."
Item: In a statement of fact signed by Lindh and his attorneys, John Walker Lindh stipulates
6. In or about late May or June 2001, the defendant agreed to attend a training camp for additional and extensive military training. In or about June 2001, the defendant traveled to the al-Farooq training camp, a facility associated with Usama Bin Laden, located several hours west of Kandahar, in Afghanistan. In or about June and July 2001, the defendant remained at the al-Farooq camp and participated fully in its training activities, including courses in weapons, orienteering, navigation, explosives and battlefield combat.
7. Having sworn allegiance to jihad, in or about July or August 2001, after completing his training, the defendant traveled to Kabul, Afghanistan to assist the Taliban. In or about July or August 2001, the defendant carried an AKM rifle issued by the Taliban while he traveled, together with approximately 150 non-Afghani fighters, from Kabul to the front line in Takhar, in northeastern Afghanistan. Between about September and November, 2001, the defendantâs fighting group was divided into smaller groups, and rotated in one to two week shifts in the Takhar trenches, opposing Northern Alliance troops.
In short, Lindh admits to having trained in a camp run by Osama bin Laden and having fought with the wonderful Tabliban -- apparently the Taliban, with its mistreatment of women and slaughter of Muslims not even worth mentioning, is not a problem for Frank Lindh. The son also admitted...

Hey Frank, nice job raising your son ya jackass!
American’s found fighting alongside the nazis were most often exterminated on the spot as Walker should have been.
I had two thoughts on reading this. You guys beat me to it.
Is this the same camp that the distinguished graduate, one Baraq Hussein 0bama, attended when he traveled to the region on his Indonesian passport?
The NYT is nuts to even consider publishing this rubbish.
How many were there? I bet it wasn’t a lot..............
John Walker Lindh is an ass, but the authorities declared him an UnPerson. They pretty much stripped him of all his Constitutional Protections, and that, people, worries me a lot more than a nutty kid with a Jihad fetish.
Too bad this dumbass didn’t have the opportunity to join the ranks of former Florida Governor LeRoy Collins, actor Alan Alda and singer Joan Baez, who spent countless hours blubbering over the execution of John Arthur Spenkelink.
Well, we don’t summarily execute traitors on the battlefield anymore.
But, what can these guys really say? He got his trial in court. He was convicted. He admitted and confessed to involvement with the Taliban. Now, his dad wants to say that he was a good boy and didn’t really mean to get hooked up with those nasty guys halfway around the world?????
If I recall correctly, John Walker converted to Islam, and practiced Islam here in America. But he felt a yearning to be in a part of the world in which Islam is also the government. Afghanistan under the Taliban was governed by “pure Islam” according to the Taliban at the time, so John Walker had found his spiritual home there.
He should be happy if he still has his American citizenship, and that he is still alive, and will get out of prison someday. Sheesh.............
I’m not finding any numbers but I doubt it was a whole lot. My grandfather spoke of them being traitors who were treated accordingly.
He’s going to get the “spanking” that you wouldn’t give him Mr. Lindh.
There is a scene in "Band of Brothers" where this takes place on the morning of June 6, 1944.
As a parent, Mr Lindh’s letter was heartbreaking to read. I had forgotten just how young (and obviously impressionable) his son was when he left to study Islamic culture and arabic language (in a pre- 9/11 world).
My son was also 18 when he left to join the US Army 2 yrs ago.
Young Mr. Lindh is now 30 and has served 10 years of his 20 year sentence. I will pray for him and his devastated family.
He’s from Fairfax, CA, a bastion of far-Left morons who drive their Prius with an Obama sticker to a $4 million dollar estate.
He fought with the enemy, he is a traitor and needs to die in prison.
The NYT wants the Boo Hoo crowd to rally around another person who stood, with arms, to kill your or my daughter...
The New York Times hates the US, and as their contined losses mount, lets hope they don’t sell to the Chinese or Arabs.
I saw that, the guy was from Oregon and returned to Germany to fight for “The Fatherland” and Lt. Spiers offed 20 of them after giving them cigarettes.
His family devastated itself long before JWL left to join the Taliban. Daddy left Mommy and little Johnny to move in with his boyfriend to play house. None of them have shown any remorse for what their actions have wrought. While you are praying for them, pray harder for the future of our nation which is being undermined at every turn by corrupt politicians and irresponsible parents.
I never expected to hear about RatBoy again in the media.
