White House rejects federal disaster status for Texas wildfires...
Via Drudge ^ | Wednesday, May 4, 2011 | NBC

"Late Tuesday, Gov. Rick Perry criticized the White House after learning that his April 16 request for a federal major disaster declaration and additional help had been rejected. Wildfires since November have blackened at least 2.2 million acres and damaged or destroyed more than 400 homes across the state, the governor said.

The federal government has already provided Texas with grants for response activities, FEMA spokeswoman Rachel Racusen told The Associated Press in a statement."

That’s ridiculous. The federal government gets billions of our tax dollars and then doesn’t secure our borders! We have alot of expenses just due to that one thing alone. We will be glad to go without federal assisstance if the federal government would be willing to go without our taxdollars...How’s that?

Why bother?

Because Obama and his cronies are sitting on billions of our hard earned tax dollars. They belong to us..not him!

Texas receives 97 cents back for every federal tax dollar it pays. NJ (my state) receives 61 cents. I’m not crying any tears for Texas’ federal assistance - it seems to be holding its own. It’s almost a complete even transaction. Federal taxes aren’t draining huge amounts of money from Texas, since Texas is getting almost all of it back.

The wildfires are horrible and will probably only get more frequent as droughts continue and temperatures rise. Has Texas developed any sort of a plan to deal with it? It just is such an independent state, and so proud of its ability to go it alone without federal help. Since Perry - like you - has said that Texas would be glad to go it alone, how would the Republic of Texas handle problems like this?

For a man who is supposed to be partially Caucasian, why do we only hear about the black part daily??

Because playing a "white" race card will not get him free sympathy, knee-jerk support from blacks, mindless donk votes, white guilt support from communist progressives, reverse discrimination "affirmative" action, etc.

In other words he would actually have to be productive and astute instead of drifting with the current like Rhambo's dead fish.

Little bammy only knows three things;
vote present,
blame Bush,
"I am one of Holder's people and I am just like you."

He can not do anything but play off on his half-dark side. Right now his practical and social education level is about 6th - 7th grade.

Sorry, but unless you provide reliable sources for your statistics..I’m not inclinced to argue your assertions.

You sound like a lib..what do you mean...’as temperatures rise’? You aren’t a globull warming nut are you? Texas has huge expenditures just keeping up with all of the illegal aliens pooring through and living here every year because the federal government refuses to secure our border!

You said:

“Since Perry - like you - has said that Texas would be glad to go it alone, how would the Republic of Texas handle problems like this?”

First of all...we would not send any..zip..zero..nada...of our federal tax dollars to the government except those needed for our military..How’s that for starters? Then we throw all the bums and looters out of the state. Next we close all of our borders..north and south to keep out all the liberal hordes fleeing to Texas from their own liberal spoiled nests up north and out west and we keep out the illegal aliens and drug runners.

Yep..we would be fine then....LOL!

Ohh and further more..TEXAS HAS GONE IT ALONE ON THESE FIRES!! WE HAVE TWO DEAD FIREFIGHTERS TO PROVE IT!

Take your crap somewhere else! I have been living amongst those that have been devastated by these fires and your thinly veiled liberal arguments aren’t fooling anyone.

By liberal Texans, if you mean the Hispanic vote, good luck. I have long said the terrorists will some day figure out the cheapest weapon is fire.

We attempted to set fire to Japan with bats carrying incendiary devices, during WW II.

Could someone refresh my memory.... About a year ago (or less) Texas had another issue - flooding I think? That also prompted a request for making it a disaster and that too was denied by the regime, am I right about this? Is this the second time a request was denied?

Zippy the ass clown has make it clear he hates Texas - and Perry - remember when he came to Texas and Perry was trying to deliver a letter to him regarding border security? Perry met him at the airport and zippy was not happy that the peasant Perry would dare walk up to him and not kiss his ring.....

For the citations of the federal tax revenues paid in and out, I got my figures here:

http://www.usaliveheadlines.com/2215/a-revealing-infographic-shows-where-federal-tax-dollars-come-from.htm

The temperature stuff comes from a variety of sources. Here’s one: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/08/070830105911.htm I’m not a global warming nut but I refuse to ignore science from the widest variety of sources that informs us that temperate zones are creeping northwards. You can tell just by talking to farmers and growers. Lilacs and dogwoods are blooming in this state now - when they bloomed 3 weeks later 40 years ago. Growing seasons are changing, both in the US and Mexico.

I admire Texas and it’s “Let’s kick out all the scalawags and carpetbaggers” attitude. I do agree that you guys are getting the short end of the stick with fed disaster funds. I was just suggesting a way to turn the bag of crap you got handed into a bag of gold. I think *every* state that is considering nullification would be encouraged and admiring of a “We’ll do it ourselves” attitude blasted loud and proud by Texas.

Other than to get Obama on record, specifically?

Remember, the Declaration of Independence of both the US and Texas lists specific grievances and failures that no party to the ensuing struggles actually denied were real.

I am sincerely saddened by the devastation in Texas, and am praying for you and your fellows citizens. I know that Texas has gone it alone, and admire the great state and its gritty determination. It seems that since O is determined to force you to continue that way, it would be a great opportunity for Perry to demonstrate that states *don’t* need federal help to take care of disasters.

You might want to look for those tax revenue figures here too:

http://www.texaspolicy.com/

Without an understanding of what went into those ‘statistics’ and what accounting practices and source figures lead to it, it’s hard to understand how this graph has any relevance to our discussion. There are no break downs of anything. Totals hide alot of inconvenient truths....lol. Like how much Texas is being forced to pay for the illegals and mexican drug runners that the federal government refuses to keep out.

As far as the nature stuff goes...it changes all the time...that’s cyclical and natural. Sometimes it changes over long periods of time and sometimes overnight. The fact that seasons may vary in length, temperature and rainfall etc. seems very natural to me. I have been growing plants for decades and some years are different from other years. In fact, I have garden logs from my grandfather’s journals and every year brought different weather patterns, bloom dates and rainfall, much like it does now. He didn’t speak of lilacs often.....but the timing of the camellia, azalea and cotton blooms were a hot topic in his logs every year...lol.

The fact that the lilacs bloomed early in New Jersey does not mean the earth is warming. You may just have an early blooming variety or spring just came early this year. Get a grip...it’s all OK.....lol. Don’t be a fool and fall for what is behind the globull warming crap because it has nothing to do with objective science and everything to do with instituting a globall tax and transferring wealth out of this country. When I was in high school and college, the eco-marxists ran around warning people of global cooling and a ‘New Ice Age’.

They wanted a global tax then too....(eye roll). I am sure they will find a ‘victim class’ that will not have to pay the ‘breath tax’ either and those of us who breathe AND work for a living will have to pay their share as well as ours. The climate exchange wall street dudes will get richer too off the globull exchange. It’s all BS!

It was over our borders(I think). The feds refused to assist us and were making it hard to detain or return them to their country of origin. We are being over-run here by illegals and now liberal looters from the north and west are pouring in because their democrat run hellholes are collapsing! I cringe everytime I hear Perry say Come on Down to Texas..we are growing..blahblahblah.

That’s ok to bring businesses in, but a whole lot of libs are coming in now wanting their hand-outs or trying to impose the same laws here, that destroyed their own communities.

I SAY STAY THE HELL OUT!! LOL

I am not sure why you even think that Texas should demonstrate that we don’t ‘need government help’? No-one is saying that states should never ask for federal assistance during disasters. Hell...Texas took on many Katrina and Rita evacuees and paid for most of it ourselves. Now they have stayed..Some contribute nothing and loot from the state, while others have made homes and done very well. These fires are a disaster....we pay federal taxes..it is the federal government’s job to assist us.

Apparently the American people think he has a lot of “:class.” Polls say 48 percent will vote for him. He only needs a few more points to go over the top if there is no third party candidate.
