To: worst-case scenario

That’s ridiculous. The federal government gets billions of our tax dollars and then doesn’t secure our borders! We have alot of expenses just due to that one thing alone. We will be glad to go without federal assisstance if the federal government would be willing to go without our taxdollars...How’s that?

Texas receives 97 cents back for every federal tax dollar it pays. NJ (my state) receives 61 cents. I’m not crying any tears for Texas’ federal assistance - it seems to be holding its own. It’s almost a complete even transaction. Federal taxes aren’t draining huge amounts of money from Texas, since Texas is getting almost all of it back.

The wildfires are horrible and will probably only get more frequent as droughts continue and temperatures rise. Has Texas developed any sort of a plan to deal with it? It just is such an independent state, and so proud of its ability to go it alone without federal help. Since Perry - like you - has said that Texas would be glad to go it alone, how would the Republic of Texas handle problems like this?
