A three-inch lizard that thrives in desert conditions could shut down oil and gas operations in portions of Southeast New Mexico and in West Texas, including the state's top two oil producing counties.

Well, maybe Oklahoma and Kansas could join you in the secession, but only if you Texans and the Okies let us teach you about controlled burns of prairie grass.

Its obvious we Texans aren't ready to go it alone.

When I lived in W. TX as a kid, these lizards were the payload for our Estes rockets.

Thanks for the confession....I thought I was the only one going to hell for doing that as a kid!

Those lizards didn't handle the G forces to well.

That is a picture of one of the west Texas fires.

Hmmm, fire would work well too, burn 'em all up, then there will be none to worry about.

Texas Guy: I'm going to drill for oil here.
EPA Guy: No your not, you have the "Texas 3 inch Lizard here."
Texas Guy: No I don't, I haven't seen any since the fire.
EPA Guy: .........

The same is true for certain birds in the hill country, since they use cedar bark for nests.

Kind of like our Silvery Minnow issues. I offer the same solution I did for the minnow. Let Walmart sell them. Once Walmart is involved they will bread the lizard in enough quantity that you don’t need to worry about this little patch of earth were we need to drill for oil.

I have long been convinced that the silvery minnow has survival mechanisms unrecognized by the so-called biologists who fight for listing of them under the ESA. I have personally observed them in surface water springs emanating from shallow groundwater several miles from the nearest stream. The surfacing groundwater is not present all the time but the next time it is, they are back. The location will remain a secret with me lest the enviros decide to “protect” them to the detriment of nearby taxpaying interests.

I agree. That damn minnow is far more resilient than the enviros give it credit for.

You need to investigate the new horizontal oil plays going on, specifically in the Leonard - Avalon and Wolfcamp Shales.
