Despite the promise that President Obama's first Facebook town hall would open a new level of two-way communication with his constituents, social-networking technology didn't add much to the conversation.
Obama answered just eight questions during Wednesday's hour-long session at Facebook's secondary headquarters building in Palo Alto
Facebook employees who won a company lottery for the chance to sit in the live audience. That left hundreds of questions posted on the event's Facebook wall unanswered.
Judging from comments posted on Facebook after the event, viewers noticed.
"Not bad, but not great," wrote Rose Berendes. "How could there not have been a question that addressed the military and wars that we are in? The cost in human life and the monetary stress that it puts on the economy were not addressed. Would like to know if there was a prior agreement to stay off that topic? Were the questions random? Just wondering?"
Cynthia Spurling posted: "What a joke Facebook! So glad you had this town hall for your employees. The Ask Question button is a joke!"
In announcing the event last week, Facebook and the White House invited people to click a button on the event's page and post their questions for the president, who has 19.3 million Facebook followers.
The page drew hundreds of comments, although many were for subjects that Obama was certain not to touch, such as questions about the legalization of marijuana and his place of birth.

That blowhard enjoys hearing himself talk, and talk, and talk some more, but the lap dog media lets him get away with it. Every answer is bloviated to death. That’s why he didn’t like the WFAA reporter from Dallas, because the reporter made him answer several hardball questions, cutting off his filibuster mode.
Guess he’ll have to stick to college campuses where his audience is too stupid and adoring to notice. You know he’s really at rock bottom in the polls when he has to start going to the Black colleges for his media events.

Did Rose think the Qs at the “Town Hall” in Annandale VA the day before were ‘random?’ THIS is your Obama voter/supporter.
That's comparatively terse for this empty suit personification of the filibuster. 7 minutes of "response" per question is about half his average, isn't it?

That would have been great to watch. But I think MZ and FaceBook are big Obama supporters. They wouldn't have done that, it might have thrown Pres__ent O off his game even more than he was at this event.
Nobama appearance check list.
1. Ignorant friendly audience.
2. Fully charged up teleprompter.
3. Lapdog media in place.
Phony politician in phony arranged public appearances.
It’s like he is living inside a tv show. Wonder if he knows that he is in a bubble.
Turns out having your major questions go unanswered and the real issue ignored is just as boring and annoying in cyberspace as it is in reality.
If any of you read the FB comments on line, you would see a LOT of people can’t stand Obama.

What a waste. Town Halls have to have a practical participation limit. Going on Facebook to do this is like trying to dialog with a crowd in The Meadowlands or The Rose Bowl.
These major “town hall” type events are always staged. I’m not surprised this one was no different.
MZ had dinner with Obama earlier this year. His COO, Sheryl Sandberg, donor of about $42,000 to Obama, DNC and D candidates, was part of Obama's immigration round table the day before.
You don't have to think they're big Obama supporters, you know it.
opensecrets.org shows $124,625 in political contributions from FB employees. Less than $13,000 went to GOP candidates.
