PHILADELPHIA (CBS) The Pennsylvania SPCA is working overtime this morning, raiding homes across the city breaking up what officials are calling the largest dogfighting ring theyve ever seen in this city.
Officials say this dogfighting ring has been under surveillance for awhile. And late last night, early this morning, the Pennsylvania SPCA with Philadelphia police acting on a tip that fights were happening, raided a home on the 2600 block of Gerritt Street.
Pennsylvania SPCA director of law enforcement, George Bengal says when they entered the house, there were around 25 people watching a fight in progress.
They actually ran, and left the dogs in the ring fighting, unattended when we entered the property.
Those two dogs that were fighting, Bengal says are in pretty bad shape. In all six dogs were taken from that house. And 15-20 people were arrested facing animal cruelty and felony dogfighting charges.
At about 7 a.m. Monday, officials raided another home this one in Kensington where Bengal says they found 12 dogs stacked in cages in the basement alongside a collection of drugs, weapons, and dog fighting paraphernalia.
Humans are animals, hoss. We are part of the animal kingdom.
You obviously have no clue as to the stats on animal abusers and those who abuse people...Hey, we aren’t Muslims, we are at least attempting to have a civilized society.
Of course, to YOU even trying to stop people abuse.... would be the Nanny State.
You are either
a) incredibly ignorant
b) just a poster who enjoys baiting animal lovers and normal people
c) Mr Macho of this century
(you are probably all the above...ha)
Well, you are so right about these posters..Usually they are scaired little boys who act all Macho to cover up any possible weaknesses ...after all only “sissies” get upset over animal cruelty...not “real men”.
In addition they have dceided to ignore the “realities” of dog fighting connections to a) people abuse, child abuse,b) drugs selling c) gangs ( but then, that doesn’t matter, cause the people that do that should be allowed to do that too...after all, aren’t they “real men” too?)ha.
Hey, don’t forget...Palter is a “REAL Man”!
Not some sissy that gets all upset over animal cruelty...
(Meanwhile these animal abusers go on to their next “property”...children, women, other ‘gang members).
Oh, lets just wait until the animal abusers go onto to other victims...why stop them now?
Enjoy your dam nanny state. But don't go crying when more Gov't takes away private property and what you can build and do on it.
A dog is property. No more. The fact that people like yourself raise them to the level of humans is sickening and disturbing. It lowers what the amazing creation of what an actual Human is.
wow..you have a real problem..lots of anger all over the place..and not much ability to respond to some key points that you just don’t get, or ignore.
First,re dogs..I never “raised them to the level of humans...”
But I guess you don’t have much of an appreciation of what
“an amazing creation a human is...” ...that it is no big deal that humans ( uh, that “amazing creature” ) would engage in such animal cruelty for sport.
You equate a nanny state with ignoring the realities of WHO these dog fighters really are...the realities of dog fighting connections to a) people abuse, child abuse,b) drugs selling c) gangs ( but then, that doesnt matter, cause the people that do that should be allowed to do that too...because dogs are “property”..and to these sick, sadistic people think some people are their ‘property”.
So let me just get this right...if I am against animal cruelty and do NOT want these people legally sanctioned ( for a variety of reasons that would protect society) then I am advocating a nanny state?
To use your phrase, “Don’t go crying when “ one of these sick sadistic violent people move from dogs to people...
Of course, you will be very very quiet on recognizing that connection then...No one will hear your outrage then!
DUH///
Its not either or...the connection to murder , violence against people is there with dog fighters.
The guy, Palter, has a real problem seeing that
a) part of our humanity is to reach a higher level, ie compassion and kindness, not sadistic glee at animal abuse.
b) he never gets the connection that those cruel to animals are not far from cruelty to humans.
c) he is very very angry
Why again should you tell someone how to treat what is theirs?
I understand very well the concept of private property...
Your limiting the discussion only to “dogs are private property.end of discussion.” is a RED HERRING that then conveniently ignores the ramifications of dog fighting to our society...which you have never responded to, cause you don’t have an argument for the very real consequences to humans that this “use of private property that is dog fighting” has.
If I were to extend your “logic” and really expand your “red herring “ logic here you go:
I own my house.
I can do what I want with my house. It is my property.
I chose to burn it down, regardless of any consequences to surrounding citizens welfare.
If you disagree, then you want the nanny state to make any restrictions.
I have a pit bull.
It is my property. I let it bark and menace in my yard all day and night long.
Too bad...it is my property and my yard is my property.
Consequences to any one else are no one’s business.
THE reason I respond again and agin to you..is to share with others, the importance of responding to and dealing with dog fighting.
We disagree, that is all. As for the noise and the burning the house down. Sure, both are perfectly legal. Just, get your Gov't to grant you waivers in the form of zoning and you can do it everyday.
Going to give my dog a hug. She was rescued from a similar situation I believe.
sickening
Merely an unsubstantiated supposition on your part.
So point out the flaw.
The fact they arrested these guys does not mean they were ignoring other crimes.
Why bother with giving you the VAST statistics on the correlation between animal abuse and human abuse...You just yelp “uh, prove it..” then you just ignore the “facts”.
You don’t WANT to believe the realities..it doesn’t matter what the stats are. Why do you think the animal cruelty laws are there? Because police and the courts found the correlation..Ironically the laws were NOT increased for those who want to protect animals from abuse.
Unsubstantiated ...prove it.
More unsubstantiated claims on your part...prove it.
Unsubstantiated comment you made with no police time statistics that the police are NOT spending time to solve those murders..and during the time waiting for leads, etc are doing something else...prove it.
Your posts are really boring. Naybe you smoked too much pot.
