Obama eligibilty: Motivating the GOP to act
Ordinary_American | March 31, 2011 | Ordinary_American

Nearly all of the GOP leadership say Obama's eligibility is a non-issue. Is it even worth pursuing further? If so, in this case, the only stick voters may have is to threaten not to vote in 2012. This situation represents a precedent. It seems that the Constitution will only be invoked when it politically convenient, otherwise it can be ignored. Opinions?

Rather than elect not to vote...everybody MUST vote but refuse to re-elect incumbent politicians. In a few years, all the “lifer” politicians will be gone! It’s term limits without having to mandate term limits.

Turn up the heat; those involved will sing to protect themselves. Anyone know how many empty cells there are at Gitmo?

At the time of the drafting and ratification of the United States constitution,
the definition of natural born citizen, combined both the principles of jus soli and jus sanguinis.

“The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.
As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.”
Emmerich De Vattel, (1714-1767,) Law of Nations, 1758, § 212, "Of the citizens and naturals."

Anyone running against him would have standing. If every candidate makes a big deal about showing his BC something will have to happen. Should even one state require candidates show their BC Obama will have to come back to Chicago permanently or show his.

There is not even a real need for anyone outside a state legislature to call for Obama per se to do anything.

That is exactly what Hamilton believed when he pointed to the inability of a Bill of Rights to control tyrants.

Just as they knew the Constitution was inadequate for any non-moral people, they knew that it wouldn’t restrain a determined tyrant.

They made the assumption of moral people in the country and in office.

I agree with your statement but until a State of the United States brings a lawsuit (whereas they would have standing) that makes its way to the SCOTUS that truth will never be brought to a conclusion.

There is only reason to follow up if it is done in the right way. Do NOT go for impeachment. It turns folks off, it won’t work, and it would give us Joe Biden. What we WANT is the 2012 elections... what we WANT is to expose the Media for being so totally in the tank for Democrats that they are worthless. We want to swing independent voters & to motivate the base. Leave O in office until we win both houses & the executive — that is the winning play.

You are correct. He basically stated that this bill of rights would become a pretext for abusing what wasn't explicitly stated in said rights.

It doesn’t matter if a right IS explicitly stated, if it gets in the way of socialism, they abuse it anyway.

2nd, 10th, etc.

For all of Hamilton’s genius (and he was the genius of the founding fathers) he never believed that a corrupt Democrat party led by Jefferson, Madison and Burr would be able to rule in spite of the Constitution. No one was more into realpolitik than he but he was a rank idealist when it came to the forces he faced within this nation.

But he and Madison went along with it so that the anti-federalists would STFU.

When you’ve lived all your life in a society based on Christian values, it would be hard to fathom a dominant humanist/satanic society and people of that worldview attaining office.

He got his first lesson after Madison turned against him and his final one when Burr challenged him to the duel. There is considerable evidence that the reason he fought the duel was to destroy Burr’s political ambition by allowing himself to be killed. He acted as though he was going to shoot after having told intimate friends that he was not going to fire. But he knew Burr and Burrism was a threat to the nation and had to be stopped. And he knew Burr was determined to murder him one way or the other.
