NPR covered this. They said (with a straight face) that during the era of Civil Rights, little black school children had to walk past screaming white people to go to school.
I guess NPR thinks that was fine -- because they said that having white voters walk past club-wielding Black Panthers in order to vote was perfectly fine, and really no different. Bull Connor? Black Panthers? As far as NPR is considered, they are equivalent, and there is nothing to see here. Let's move on.
