State officials said Thursday that damage to the marble inside and out the State Capitol would cost an estimated $7.5 million.
Cari Anne Renlund, chief legal counsel for the state Department of Administration, said in Dane County court that estimates of damage to marble includes $6 million to repair damaged marble inside the Capitol, $1 million for damage outside and $500,000 for costs to supervise the damage.
Much of the damage apparently has come from tape used to put up signs and placards at the Capitol.

Not just tape damage, but liberals using of hammers and chisels - will have to replace the entire damaged piece - which is why the estimates are so high.

Why fix it? It is part of the history of the “Peoples Capitol”. Let them look at it forever.

Take it out of union pension funds. --
That works. Or charge the trespassers with vandalism and let the courts decide the remedy, although I'd suggest they be personally liable, and also have to perform clean up work on their own time.
Or, just leave the place a mess. That's free.

You and your union friends. You really don't see a problem with them doing over $7 million dollars in damages to our State Capitol building?

When contractors re-did a bank building I worked in, after they cleaned the marble they used a compound made of beeswax to protect it.

You’re wrong. Marble and limestone are very sensitive and can even be damaged by some soaps.

I keep thinking of Cemetary headstones.
They are made of granite, one of the hardest rocks on earth. They don't stain. Go to an old cemetary the old marble headstones are so rough the are hard to read.
