WITI-TV, MADISON — Before protesters stormed the capitol, the mayor of the city of Madison tried to pull a fast one. The governor's budget repair bill was on the fast track, and Madison Mayor Dave Ciesliewicz was racing against the clock to pass new union contracts first.

E-mails obtained by the FOX6 Investigators show that the mayor enlisted the help of State Senator Mark Miller. They both tried to convince the Secretary of State to hold up the bill by taking the maximum 10 days allowed by law before publishing the bill.

While it was not what Walker wanted to do and it would create even more problems for him and his state, I LOOK FORWARD TO THE LAYOFF’S AND FIRINGS of these despicable and incompetent teachers.

Spot on. I love the way you think. RICO was the first thing that came to mind.

"That's the way collective bargaining works. It ought to be a negotiation, but at the end of the day we want to have good working relationships between labor and management here in Madison."

IOW, it is OPM. Your grandchildren will pay the tab for labor peace (and votes) today. Criminal. Tar and Feathers would not be out of line.

I hope some other news outlets pick this up, so folks can’t just say it was Fox News, because they’ve already heard the “Fox Lies” being yelled by the protesters. I want there to be other sources telling this story.

The Bill must be considered by the Senate as it was passed by the Assembly. There is no way to amend it. Nothing requires a 2/3 quorum. The quorum number is set at 20. Senate membership is 33. There are 19 Republicans — all in favor. There are 14 absent Democrats. When ONE comes back, they will vote and it will all be over. Then there will be recalls to consider. right now they are trying to recall a slough of Dems and a couple of Republicans.

I'm not talking about amending it; I'm talking about starting over with a separate bill.

If they think it’s true because they heard the thugs yelling it, they are beyond help.

Nah, if they hear it on one of the other networks, they may actually give it more than one second’s thought. ;o)

I don’t give this kind of thing much thought because there never seems to be anything we can DO about it.

American left runs the media and the government.

Don’t expect to see this mentioned anywhere or for any charges to be filed.

Nothing requires a 2/3 quorum. The quorum number is set at 20.

The WI Constitution requires a three-fifths quorum for fiscal legislation. Since the total number of elected members is 33, a three-fifths quorum is calculated to be 20. There is no law or senate rule "setting" the quorum to 20.

3/5 is NOT 2/3, as the previous poster stated. 2/3 of 33 would be 22.

Yes, I’m aware that 3/5 != 2/3.

I was addressing your statement that “the quorum number is set at 20.” One could interpret that statement to mean that the specific number of 20 is established by law, which would be incorrect. I posted a clarification for those who are interested.

Thank you. But the quorum figure does not change. As long as the total number of Senators is 33, quorum will always be 20. Should the Legislature change the total number of Senators in the body, then the quorum would change according to the 3/5 rule.

The most disgusting act of political corruption ever in WI.

Has denied us of representation by our elected conservatives.

They are right now, stealing our money as they make their dirty deals.

May all the dems who fled rot in hell, as well as all the union thugs who are now sitting across a “negotiating” table from other dems who will give them every little demand they ask for, on OUR dime.

Rotten liberal crooks. New Low, in a party of low life scumbags.

The party of abortion, showing yet again, how depraved and soul-less they are.

PS-once again Mark Belling is way ahead of the curve. He has been talking about this union-union fast dealing for many days, maybe since last week. Of couse today, Vicki took the torch and added fire to the story for 6 hours between both her shows.

Thanks to Mark and to Vicki, our Wisconsin conservative warriors.

Another clarification ...

The three/fifths quorum is 20 and is required for fiscal legislation. For everything else, a quorum is a simple majority of 17.
