Gov. Daniels walks back comments about Dem fleebaggers
The American Thinker ^ | 2/27/2011 | Ralph Alter

Posted on 02/28/2011 5:02:08 AM PST by Lakeshark

After a considerable amount of blowback over Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels cuddly response to the flee-bagging Indiana Democrat legislator's run-and-hide strategy to avoid facing the consequences of their electoral defeat in the 2010 mid-terms, Daniels appeared on Fox News with Neal Cavuto to apologize for misspeaking.

I haven't paid much attention to Daniels, and have had no opinion on him. This morning, NPR played a small interview with him. They were very kind and seemed to support him to some degree. No attacks. No snide comments. They allowed him to speak and get his points across.

What I heard him say this morning (about spending) seemed fine -- but I had all kinds of alarm bells going off: Why was NPR being so nice to this guy?

I think they detect weakness and they feel that they can sink him whenever they want to. Like McCain.

Yeah, the Daniels camp went into full damage control mode last week after he caved. A couple of posters, whom I never seen before, showed up here and tried to spin it, but they got no where fast.

Stick a fork in him. He’s done.

Still, wasn't it 2005 when Daniels PULLED the state worker's union recognition?

Makes him 6 years ahead of those other guys.

Yeah, I read an article about him in this weekend's WSJ. He is definitely a good fiscal conservative, but his pablum on social issues and this report of an apology is kind of disheartening. What keeps me from throwing my support behind any of the Republicans (besides conservatism) right now is either a lack of sufficient experience on the executive level and/or the lack of sufficient experience in the private sector. I don't want a career politician nor a mere speech-maker. Seriously, if Newt had gone after a political office where he was an EXECUTIVE (or a business, even), then he might be more viable. If Sarah had stayed in Alaska (I know all the reasons she had to leave!), she might have been more viable...or, if Mitt had the b**** to say "Massachusetts health plan isn't working right, and the universal requirement to purchase healthcare is bad," then he might be more apt to get support--though I know he wouldn't here on FR.

Huckabee? He won't draw any votes except in the South.

Maybe Pawlenty....I dunno.

One man, one vote; The media does not select the candidate.

Are you really that naive or are you an employee of the enemedia?

Here would be a good place to start to educate yourself.
More may be found here and here and here and here.

There may be a lot of duplicates in those lists, but is worth the effort to expose fraud.

Too many conservative pols live in a bubble where they are convinced that conservatism (ie, Americanism) does not “sell”.

No, unlike the left, we conservatives CAN be fully honest about what we believe, and the long term liberty and benefits of conservative policies.

Boldly defending Americanism will only turn off a very few,
and there would be no way to win the votes of communists anyway.

We currently have some one usurping the position that has no experience at anything -- except perhaps as a riot instigator -- nor for all practical purposes does he even exist.

In this day and age, I will gladly support a strong conservative candidate who is intelligent enough to surround himself with advisers and cabinet members who do have executive experience.

Wow, what a pic.

Short, a bit dorky looking, somewhat boring.

Even if he's a great fiscal conservative (I think he is), that puts you at strike one before you run in this day and age. It's unfortunate, but it's there.

Yes, he has had a bad couple months. Maybe subconsciously he doesn’t want to be president. Here is a link to Mitch doing what Walker is trying from the get go, SIX years ago-

Okay, I read the whole article. I even followed the link from this line: "my blog reporting Daniel's inappropriate and inadequate response to the fleebaggers "

But nowhere, and I mean nowhere did I find the actual quote of what Daniels supposedly said about fleebaggers.

Here is what I would like to see on FR from now on. Any mention of a comment, and comments on that comment, ad nauseum, SHOULD INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL COMMENT, (and not buried in several links, either).
