President Obama is sticking to his script, and theres no room in it for Libya or the killings of four hostages by Somali pirates.
Instead, Obama is spending his Tuesday in Cleveland spreading his message about jobs and innovation, and sitting in on some breakout sessions at a forum modeled after his winning the future rallying cry.
Obama spoke for eight minutes in the morning as he started the conference, but made no mention of the violence in Libya or of the deaths of the hostages held by Somali pirates. His press secretary, Jay Carney, told reporters on Air Force One that he was informed of the hostage deaths early Tuesday morning.
The White House has yet to release any statement written or spoken specifically about the violence in Libya or the comments of Muammar Qadhafi. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cited bloodshed in a written statement on Monday, and Obama said in a statement on Friday that he was deeply concerned about violence in three restive countries: Bahrain, Libya and Yemen.
Obama often uses public appearances as a chance to speak about current events, especially tragic ones. But he began his remarks on Tuesday by going right into acknowledging the members of his administration joining him at the jobs pow-wow. Carney told reporters that he didnt anticipate Obama speaking about Libya.
Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, who is in Cleveland, said in an MSNBC interview shortly after Obamas remarks that Obama condemns violence in Libya, and that it needs to stop.
She added, But further than that, I really couldnt comment.
Walker leads, Obama reads (OMG...what a great campaign line! you can subsititute any name for Walker and it works!)
If I were President, a bunch of pirate hideouts in Somilia would not exist, and Quadaffi would be either worm food or in Gitmo.
The teleprompter writers didn’t want to be bothered addressing something that is actually stirring up some live controversy across the land.
Who is Obama without them, anyhow?
That is a good catchy slogan.
I like it.
He uses them for 'shout outs', too, usually before the tragic current events.
I hate him. That is all.
I don’t think this is what Obama signed it for when he became President. It is time for the grow-ups.
Actually, at this point it might be better if he just keeps his piehole shut. He’ll just say something stupid anyway.
Aw crump! He’s in Cleveland? No wonder the sunny day suddenly clouded over. Will have to listen to Triv’s show today. Starts in about 15 minutes. WTAM.
Leadership is above his pay-grade, so he’s voting “present”. What did anyone expect?
Obama condemns violence in Libya, and that it needs to stop.
Reminds me of a comic routine where Bob Nelson was imitating a football player doing an endorsement:
“Support the umited negro college fund, because the mind... is a terrible thing. And it must be stopped... in our lifetime... before it kills sumbuddy”
So 2 more years of Obama pushing WTF.
I’ve got another nice slogan (or I think so)
If we lose the now, there IS no future.
Community Organizin' in Chi-town was a piece of cake compared to this Oval Office stuff.
(He's also hopin' that the Mooch is bringin' him back some of those ribs)
A normal American POTUS might, but not the Kenyan Muslim Marxist in the WH now. Barry ain’t gonna do jack.
He is demonstrating well the fact that leftists know that their beliefs are despised by the majority of people, and therefore must be kept hidden and lied about.
Barry will label the hostage killings as an “isolated incident” and sweep it under his prayer rug.
He just ignores what he doesn’t WANT to see. - His thing, I think, is to support as surreptitiously as possible, the union thugs in the U.S. in their rabble rousing, keep on ramping up the spending as much as possible and demonizing those who now must behave as adults and get spending under control. Riots and demonstrations lead to possibly him having to suspend that pesky old Constitution. It’s a win-win for him, but his evil intent is showing up in his face. Not pretty.
Thomas Jefferson knew how to take care of pirates. In 1804 he sent the Navy and Marines in to take care of the Barbary pirates off the shores of Tripoli. Where is TJ when we need him?
