Walker irked by Obama's meddling

Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, confronted with thousands of protesters outside of the state capitol in Madison, says it would be wise for the president to stay out of his states business.
I think were focused on balancing our budget, Walker said on Fox News Friday morning. It would be wise for the president and others in Washington to focus on balancing their budget, which they are a long ways from doing.
The governor just a mere six weeks into his job added that he is not threatened by the agenda of Washington politicians. We're not going to be intimidated by people coming in from outside of Wisconsin trying to tell us what we need to do to balance our budget, Walker said. The bottom line is, we got elected to do a job.
For days, Wisconsins union members have been demonstrating against legislation proposed by Walker last week that aims to reduce the power of public sector unions and cut into members paychecks. But Walker continued to insist that his decision is not about degrading public employees.

Strike
Has anyone seen Poor Truth lately? Has anyone asked how school children are supposed to love and honor that truth if they see teachers and teachers’ unions defying it?
In February, in Racine, Wisconsin, members of the teachers’ union suffered a sudden “attack” of an unspecified “sickness,” leaving thousands of youngsters without school. Schools were forced to close because of this “sickout,” in which more than 60% of teachers in the targeted schools called in “sick.” What they were “sick” about is the fact that they and the school district have not been able to agree on a new contract. Of course, there is no right for teachers to strike in Wisconsin. State law forbids it. Even the state Superintendent of Schools said the teachers should separate their teaching responsibilities from their contract talks.
Accordingly, the school district sent the teachers’ union a “cease and desist” order to stop the strike, a strike posing as a sudden, widespread epidemic of what some call “frustration flu.” The job action, the district said, is “...in violation of the Racine agreement.” The leader of the Racine teachers’ union denied this, asserting that the teachers are “legitimately using their sick leave.”
So, what seemed obvious to any objective observer the Racine teachers were striking, in violation of state law and their own bargaining agreement was baldly denied: “Union officials insist that absences have mounted as individual teachers, frustrated over working conditions, decided not to work when they felt ill.” And, in classic illustration of how a union monopoly can perch on top of and exploit an educational finance monopoly (EFM), it turns out that under the prevailing contract, the union itself is the agency which is to test whether anyone is not using their sick leave correctly. “Foxes and henhouses, anyone?” (Foregoing citations from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 2/19/98.)

A share? Oh my, you poor poor exploited worker of a callous state bureaucracy!
We FREE PEOPLE pay 200%+. We pay for YOU, we pay the AGENCY that pays for YOU what you do not, we pay OUR own medical expenses, if lucky, we have managed to save what measly retirement savings we could, and we pay all taxes.
But because YOUR plight has struck such a chord in my giant heart, we all will cry, lament, wail and tear our clothing for YOU!
Walker has a helluva' lot more executive experience than either presidential candidate in the last election. He was Milwaukee County Executive for eight years prior to being elected gov. Eight years in the WI State Assembly prior to being elected to an executive position.
By the time the next presidential election rolls around, he will been gov for approximately the same am't of time as Sarah Palin.
Difference is Obama can get Bennie to print more bucks (all the while debasing the dollar, causing inflation) and the States cannot.
The States that are in trouble should print up ‘I.O.U.s’ to their government employees when the revenue does not meet expenses. Raising taxes only causes the ‘makers’ to leave.
I do as well. Wish Wisconsin would loan him to us in the People's Republic of Illinois so he could clean up the mess the commies like Quinn and Madigan have dumped on us.
Sounds like Walker is standing his ground. GOOD! Finally someone with some backbone!
Teachers generally have a certain number of personal days, say around three, as well as sick days. Personal days can be taken for any reason.
For sick days, the rule of thumb is that more than 3 consecutive days warrants a doctor's note from what I've experienced.
Medical issues are touchy, too. School administrators will tread lightly about questioning doctors notes, even if they seem balatantly bogus. US society is just too litiginous.
Walker hit just the right note - calm and succinct.
.....and the entire midwest, with the exception of MN and IL, would fall like red dominoes. Somebody like Walker is Hussein’s worst nightmare.
BTW, does anybody know what Hussein was (ostensibly) in Milwaukee for on Wednesday?
They don’t (have the stones). Didn’t you study any biology? Invertebrates aren’t equipped with stones.
All I can say is you are an idiot.
I also pay myself with the taxes that are taken out of my pay, so there.
That would be BRILLIANT. And I predict the very next day there would be vastly, vastly improved attendance in schools by teachers.
There are so many people in this country without jobs or business. These fat pigs have steady work and are basically striking because they are being asked to take what is on average a $50/week reduction in pay. A typhoon of selfishness.
How typical of those who chose jobs in government, academia and unions! You so easily scoff at those who pay you. Ingrate!
Thank me, and thank every other US citizen-taxpayer! But you don’t, and those ingrates in Wisconsin don’t either.
I thank myself for paying my own salary because I do pay taxes. And thank you.
I also get a retirement check from the Air Force for working for them for 20 yrs.
So thank me for my service keeping your freedom.
Yep, this guy won't quit when the going gets tough.
Double-dipper, eh? Want some more? My buddy Sally Fist wants to help provide for you, you damn leech.
I hope you understand that while I respect you as a Freeper, I have NO REGARD AT ALL for how you ran your life on the advanced leech-hood plan.
I see a baby with candy, I don’t take it. You jakes see a baby with candy, you take it and grope the mama at the same time.
