CBS News says that correspondent Lara Logan was attacked and sexually assaulted last Friday in Cairos Tahrir Square while filming a piece for 60 Minutes.
From the CBS News statement:
On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS Correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a 60 MINUTES story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into a frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.
A little looking around on the internet reveals that she was raped, for a pretty long time, and by more than one person.
I hadn't really bothered looking yet. I figured there would be "more to come" on this thread or others.
Won't be any "film at 11:00" on this incident, will there?
Barry isnt in a hurry doesnt protect the women under his authority as Commander-in-Chief
I bet many of these rapists just happen to be black...
Lawsuit claims Pentagon turned blind eye to military rape victims
This is a tough issue,” said Kaye Whitley, director of the Pentagons Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office, a small unit set up in 2004 to promote training programs and greater sensitivity within the services to the problems of sexual abuse and harassment.
Whitley said she couldn’t comment on the specific cases outlined in the complaint, but insisted the Pentagon has been making progress. “We’re talking about changing the way people think and the way people feel the research tells us it takes eight to ten years to change the culture.”

Still waiting for CAIR’s apology...
Guess that’s what some Muzzie Extremists want to do to blond Christians. And not just women!
This is gonna be one of those stories...

How can this be? Isn’t it the western white male who is responsible for the repression of women around the world? /SARC
I concur. Western women are unaware of the automatic protection they have under Christian value based society.
The modern feminist/multicultural movement has brainwashed so many people to the point where they don’t understand: Westerners women cannot go to Muslim lands and expect the assumed respect one would receive in the west.
Liberal journalist seem to think they have some sort of international ‘freedom of the press’ invisible protection shield around them. (Remember Daniel Pearl?)
In her defense: she was with a news crew, I’m guessing they were men, so she probably felt she had some protection.
This is disgusting. Thank God for the women who came to her aid.
Does anyone know if the Egyptian Army arrested anyone?
The beating of journalists and now the rape of one ...I wonder if we are going to see a different approach to the middle east from them and their co-workers.
It's now 2011 and we're at war with these barbaric followers of Mohammad and nothing has changed. Did I miss something here?
...and she’s now married to the guy she had the affair with.
Blame the rape victim.
Classy.
Oh, she has a history....what exactly is your purpose, your intention in bringing that up? My bet is you won’t answer.
She has a history of using poor judgment and putting herself in bad situations that any person with a lick of sense would avoid.
See #95, huckleberry.
“Blonde hair, Western clothing I hope people learn (again) from this about Islam. All religions are NOT all alike. Christianity elevates and cherishes women, family unit protects children, and it is unique in that.”
Exactly!!
Doesn’t the photo remind you of Jane (spit!) Fonda on the NVA anti-aircraft gun?
Just like Jessica Lynch.
Hard to defend oneself when you’ve had your bell rung in a CAR ACCIDENT. Nice try anyway.
