Im dissapointed at the light hearted remarks being made here. We should be pissed off an American citizen was treated in such a way, regardless of their affiliations.

Not really. This is voluntary assumption of the risk.

You can feel bad that it happened to her but there’s no reason to be ticked off about it because of her citizenship.

Remember Aesop’s tale about the scorpion and the frog.

Its pretty sad. Politically though, the left will have to try to find a way to excuse or downplay this. That’s what they do.

Im dissapointed at the light hearted remarks being made here.

There's a significant level of frustration that expresses itself as humor. The press attacked the Tea Party. Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, and others walked through a Tea Party rally with her carrying that big gavel, hoping and praying for someone to say something they could use to discredit the Tea Party. When no one did, they tried to make up a story about hearing racial slurs.

In Egypt, this woman is kidnapped and raped, and the press sits on it, then when they finally admit it happened, they minimize the role of the Egyptian military by saying she was rescued by some women, oh, and twenty members of the Egyptian military.

The truth is that the majority of the Egyptians want to wipe out the Christians in Egypt and declare war on Israel. The truth in Egypt is the same truth as in many third world countries that a woman who is out and not protected is very likely to be gang raped. I'm glad she survived and prayers for her recovery.

I feel sorry for her, but get real here. She went to a Muslim country, placed herself in the middle of a Muslim mob, and didn't conform to local mores. What did everybody expect?

What will CBS do next, send a rabbit to interview a pack of wolves?

here’s the deal-— she is suffering from the lunacy of the left-— Christians and Tea partier patriot types are knuckle dragging neanderthals-— Muslims and revolutionary types are saints

I am pissed off at the perps, but I am also very sober toward the danger. I have a very hard time mustering any sympathy for these idiot news people who think they are in compelete safety in the middle of a lawless mob. It is bad enough that they are in a lawless mob, now add one that hates us to death and believes it is their religeous duty to destroy us. Even discounting their hatred for us, it is absolute folly to put yourself into the midst of a lawless mob. Absolutey foolhardy.

Anyone with half a brain should know that their very life is in imminent danger in that country. The treatment this poor naive woman received is an ample reminder of that FACT.

These idiot news crews think they are protected behind their press credentials. “We are here to help you get sympathy for your cause”. Sure, ma’am. These wild animals really don’t care, and news stories like this are living proof.

Any news agency that puts it’s crews into this situation is guilty of criminal negligence IMHO.

While I agree with you in principle, I do ask you to consider this. Is it possible that those making what you call "light hearted remarks" are, like me, so tired of the way the State-Run Media has demonstrated their anit-American bias over the years that they/we may no longer consider a member of the media worthy of such a "let's circle the wagons around the American" defense?

Does anyone deserve to be assaulted and raped? Heavens no. That's not what I'm saying. Nor do I know this reporter from Adam: I have no idea what her specific background is. (I rarely post here at FR because I don't take the time to be fully informed about a lot of current events.)

But I think I can be excused for not being very passionate about coming to the defense of someone who chose to be employed by an entity that long ago chose sides; and chose a side that I dispise.

Do I have sympathy for the victim? Absolutely. Do I wish her well and hope she recovers fully, both physically and emotionall? You betcha. But geez, louise. What did she expect was going to happen? The assmebled mob would invite her to afternoon tea??!!

Just my 2¢
