While I agree with you in principle, I do ask you to consider this. Is it possible that those making what you call "light hearted remarks" are, like me, so tired of the way the State-Run Media has demonstrated their anit-American bias over the years that they/we may no longer consider a member of the media worthy of such a "let's circle the wagons around the American" defense?
Does anyone deserve to be assaulted and raped? Heavens no. That's not what I'm saying. Nor do I know this reporter from Adam: I have no idea what her specific background is. (I rarely post here at FR because I don't take the time to be fully informed about a lot of current events.)
But I think I can be excused for not being very passionate about coming to the defense of someone who chose to be employed by an entity that long ago chose sides; and chose a side that I dispise.
Do I have sympathy for the victim? Absolutely. Do I wish her well and hope she recovers fully, both physically and emotionall? You betcha. But geez, louise. What did she expect was going to happen? The assmebled mob would invite her to afternoon tea??!!
Just my 2¢
emotionall = emotionally
I do agree with the notion that these people were idiots to walk into a madhouse like that and think nothing would happen to them. Im more upset at the nature of this particular attack, the fact a woman was sexually assaulted. This is my reason why i dont think woman in the military should be on the front lines. Woman captured in combat would be subject to horrendous atrocities, more so than most men would. I dont think its sexist or masoginist at all to want to see no harm come to the opposite sex.
