Stonewall Jackson is rolling over in his grave.
Next month his beloved Virginia Military Institute will be convening a celebration commemorating the 1300th anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Spain under the Muslim warlord Tariq ibn Ziyad in 711 A.D. The March 23-25 celebration entitled 711-2011: East Meets West and organized by VMIs Center for Leadership and Ethics, is scheduled to feature standard Muslim apologists Reza Aslan and Akbar Ahmed. VMI Superintendent Gen. J.H. Binford Peay has even filmed an invitation to the celebration.

The agenda will tell the vital story of the achievements when Muslims, Christians, and Jews thrived side by side in Western Europe,
The “achievements”, would be as one expected from the “dark ages” part myth, and part reality. You decide.
One wonders why the search for recognition for a society that now resides exclusively in third world hell holes, with a singular hatred for all things American.

It doesn’t appear innocent, but an agenda to make an Islamic conquest seem like a blessing.
I have family from Galicia; no mosques there (and they LOVE pork in all forms). If it’s any consolation, Spain still holds some cities on the Moroccan coast (Ceuta, etc.). They have their illegal alien detention centers there, a sort of “Spanish Guantanamo Bay”. Morocco wants them back, but won’t get them; they can’t even take the remainder of Spanish Morocco (I believe it is called Western Sahara for the time being - they don’t want to be part of Morocco). Some of Spain’s Muslims redeemed themselves by fighting for Franco; give credit where credit is due!
It’s all very nice to be constantly saying to uniformed Americans, “thank you for your service to the country.” However, it is just as important to always recall that the military, like society itself, is made of a large percentage of intellectual misfits and general f-ups. The present composition of the JCS, with the exception of the Marine commandant, is a case in point. This academic is another.
I can’t believe VMI has embraced dhimmitude. Has it’s faculty been taken over by the same cryptomarxist as other schools?
“VMI and the military has been heading in this direction for a long time”
Indeed. It used to graduate primarily those educated in engineering and sciences, with a relatively small proportion in the humanities. Now it has flipped to be the exact opposite.
The traditions that made it viable are passe’ today.
“The Institute will be heard from today”.......indeed.
In a country gun ownership is a right why do we tolerate this?
My brother graduated from VMI in 1975. That school and this school are light years away. In fact our whole military has become the biggest social engineering platform of our whole nation.

“I cant believe VMI has embraced dhimmitude. Has its faculty been taken over by the same cryptomarxist as other schools?”
It always had its share of liberal professors, still, back in the day we laughed at them nearly universally. There were many notable exceptions, though. As it transitioned from an engineering school to a liberal arts school over the past 15-20 years, I’m sure they lost a large portion of sensible professors - as well as its pool of sensible cadets.
VMI was an anachronism that preserved many positive things about America and Southern Military Tradition - and survived by sticking to core principles. That it can get to the point where they host something like this - and even host something that is called a “Gala” shows how those traditional principles have been cast aside and illustrates the corrosive effect of incrementalism over time.
Virginia Mourning Her Dead
Indeed.

So even the highest levels have been breached?
Honestly, if they want to STUDY it, I’m all for it. We SHOULD have a clear understanding of the enemy. What better way to learn about them than examining their greatest triumph?
Now, if this turns out to be an actual celebration, I may be marching my happy @$$ up there to have a word with someone.
It's going to a take a new generation of Pattons and Pershings to drive today's invaders (from both the east and south) and their 5th column from our shores.
Officers of the American Expedition force in Mexico including Brigadier General John J. Pershing, and Lieutenant George S. Patton, Aide (4th and 5th from left)
Pershing leads these officers and their troop across the Rio Grand in pursuit of invaders lead by Pancho Villa.
WHEN IS THIS CRAP GOING TO STOP???
Stonewall Jackson would have hung these bastards.
