Next month his beloved Virginia Military Institute will be convening a celebration commemorating the 1300th anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Spain under the Muslim warlord Tariq ibn Ziyad in 711 A.D. The March 23-25 celebration entitled “711-2011: East Meets West” and organized by VMI’s Center for Leadership and Ethics, is scheduled to feature standard Muslim apologists Reza Aslan and Akbar Ahmed. VMI Superintendent Gen. J.H. Binford Peay has even filmed an invitation to the celebration.

I agree that within the rest of the context of the announcement “commemorate” is understood to be positive. “Celebrate” is openly pro-mohammedan.

Wrong even from just the historical point of view. The man who made Al-Andalus, coming decades later, was Abd-El Raham, a skilled politician. Tariq was simply a plunderer that took advantage from the disputes among the noblemen in the Visigothic kingdom of Spain, whose elective monarchy made it intrinsically unstable, and fed up the population, Roman, with civil wars.

Maybe that is what they really want to celebrate at VMI.

What a stinking pile of crap.

Instead VMI should be celebrating Charles “The Hammer” Martel for
turning back the Islamic horde in France at Poitiers (sp?),
Sobieski at the Gates of Vienna as well as the @$$-kicking the Islamics
got at the naval battle of Lepanto.

I do recall an hour-long show on CNN (for opposition research)
maybe 7 or so years ago that showed how France, the USA, and Spain
dealt with suspected Islamic terrorist that had infiltrated their countries.

1. France was the kick-your-@$$ country. The authorities will gather up
and incarcerate the extended family of suspected Islamic terrorist suspects
in order to compel some coopertion.

2. The USA will pick up suspects and apply a little pressure.
Well, that was during Dubya’s administration and probably has been
downgraded these days.
Unless you are an old grandma hoping to board a civilian aircraft.

3. Spain had BENT OVER and just given into the Islamics (with the exception
of a few judges). All the Muslims interviewed had broad smiles when
asked about how they were treated by Spanish authorities.

Overall, what a freakin’ mess.

I agree. The thing is, I think the events this week in Egypt have illustrated to Obama the dangers of having a military force that looks kindly upon the people. For many years, my mother (a LEGAL immigrant) said that one of the stabilizing factors of America was having a strong military that would never fire on its people. The same thing happened in Russia at the fall of communism. In the end the Red Army would not attack the Russian citizen. Between Obama's efforts to gay the military and the new globalist ads the Navy is running, I wonder if he hopes to change that.
