The democrats are on record supporting an un-Constitutional law.
Hopefully the Republicans will remember this, and figure out that they can use this in their 2012 campaigns. (Not holding my breath - Republicans are not too bright, and the rest are gutless).
51 rats voted for an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law!
This is RIPE for campaign ads.
Yep, they could have taken this issue away from 2012 conservatives and appeared to have “learned their lesson” and Obama could have signed it and appeared more moderate. Now the Supreme Court will get to look at Obamacare and will likely declare it unconstitutional. And since there is no severability clause, the whole thing, regulations, bureaucrats, and mandates will be chucked out the window.
Bingo! well said.
Think ourside the box. Think of the consequences of the democrats voting nay on the repeal bill. The democrats are on record supporting an un-Constitutional law. Republicans can use this as ammo in 2012 accusing democrats as not having read the Constitution, and violating the court's ruling.
(Common sense ain't common anymore).
Re: Democrat unanimity on voting against Obamacare repeal:
“Doesn’t it defy reason? They were handed the perfect “out” and didn’t use it.”
The key here is that the vote had almost nothing to do with the views of the vulnerable Senators on healthcare - it had everything to do with Obama.
He’s still their golden boy, their Chosen One, despite his ever-more-obvious incompetance. They’re committed to covering his butt, and since any defections against his legislative centerpiece would be a major political blow (and passage of repeal to force an Obama veto would almost be fatal politically), like obedient little butt-boys, they toed the line and voted “nay”.
Think of all those stupid donkey congressmen who took an electoral pounding last November because of their loyalty to Obama, and extrapolate to 2012. All the vulnerable Dems won’t get beaten because of this vote, but some will - and we’ll all enjoy gloating when it happens.

You miss the point. Read my other posts. The dems voting this way have inflicted collateral damage on themselves.
Surely you jest! Onadacare already has been found unconstitutional by a federal court. Repealing it is moot at this point as I do not see the US Supreme Court upholding it when it gets to them.
So, for democrats who voted for it and against it’s repeal there can only be one final outcome—which will come well before you’re demise unless you’re already terminal.
I would like to know what kind of pressure was brought to bear to keep all the dem senators in line.
Unenforceable? Seems to me it was one heck of an audit trap.
"Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against - then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them."
Yup. It boggles the mind that so many FReepers on this thread are clueless.
I think the Senate democrats believe the Supremes are going to declare Obamacare unconstitutional, so they could afford to vote for it once more.
They expect voters to not care about their vote today because Obamacare will have already been killed by the courts by Nov 2012.
These senators believe that the voters are that stupid.
Well they are; look who they elected!
Point well taken but I think we’re not quite at that point in the US and the Senate knows it.
Well, the Democrat Senators just demonstrated their allegiance to Unconstitutional law.
I didn’t think of it that way. I guess I can’t fathom anyone still being willing to fall on their sword for such a lousy President. But it does make sense...it is about the Obama Brand, not the healthcare bill.
And your last paragraph is right on. We’re going to relish watching some of these Obama devotees go down in flames in 2012!
Vote every week...every day on this. It isn’t a waste of time. It marks the anti-Americans DIMs for who there...on record. De-fund it. Pursue it in the courts. Hold hearings. Vote the bastards out next election. Talk about it for what it is. Ridicule them. Stakes...drive multiple stakes through its heart! I need more stakes!
I heard it was a FEDERAL ruling.....which affects all
