Senate to vote on repeal of health care law

Senate Democrats on Wednesday are expected to block a procedural motion to consider legislation repealing the health care reform bill passed last year.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has passed a bill to repeal the health care overhaul. However, Democrats hold a majority in the Senate, dooming the chances of the motion proposed by the Republican minority.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, said Tuesday he wanted to get the repeal effort "out of the system" so the Senate could move ahead with other business, while his Republican counterpart said his party was fulfilling an obligation to voters from last year's congressional elections.

"It would be a dereliction of duty if Republicans didn't fight for repeal," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky. "We made a promise to our constituents that we would vote to repeal this bill on their behalf. And that's just what we intend to do."

Wednesday's vote amounts to a push by Republicans to get Democratic opposition to a full repeal on the record in the form of votes against the motion. Led by President Barack Obama, Democrats concede the health care overhaul can be improved, but they oppose rolling back protection for consumers against health insurance industry practices such as denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions.

Does anyone know if the high capacity magazine ban amendment that was rumored to be stuck on this bill go on?

The Republicans should force Democrats to go on the record over and over again regarding the repeal of “Obamacare”. Then a good number of the twenty-three Democrat senators up for re-election in 2012 can be defeated as were scores and scores of “Blue Dog” Democrat house members in November of 2010. And....”Obamacare” also took the Speaker of the House position away from “nutcase” Democrat, Nancy Pelosi!!! Add to this scenerio, the fact that POTUS Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, etc. have just tossed away the entire Middle East to our enemies and any Democrat that continues to support Obama is done politically!!!

He now wants a vote before any Dims join in and the thing passes. Of course, if it is defeated, the House should just write another version and send it up. Perhaps the message will come across then.

“Defend the law that has been declared UnConstitutional”

Actually, there is no law right now as the federal courts have said so. The executive branch is violating the US constitution if it thinks the law remains in effect. Only if they obtain a stay from an appeals court can they implement anything related to Obamacare.

News of repeal of 0bamacare has been obliterated by wall to wall coverage of muzzie on muzzie violence in Egypt. Anybody know what's up with “just un-do it”?

A promise to vote to repeal Obamacare is a little short of repealing the monstrosity. Going through the motions is inadequate, IMO. The bill must be repealed and replaced with something that is characterized by common sense and does not destroy the health industry.

Gentlement, let us not just go thru the motions, but let us plead in our prayer and expect our Father to end Ocare. Surely, we are in no more outnumbered here than during the Revolutionary War.
