State lawmakers want Obamas birth records

PHOENIX More than three dozen Republican legislators want a plan to require Barack Obama to produce an original birth certificate for Arizona officials if he intends to seek re-election.
HB 2544 would forbid the secretary of state from putting a presidential candidates name on the ballot unless certain documents are first provided. These include a sworn statements outlining where the candidate has lived for the last 14 years, that the candidate does not hold dual citizenship and that the persons allegiance is solely to the United States of America.
But what worries Ken Bennett, the current secretary of state, is that he also would have to be furnished an original long form birth certificate that includes the date and place of birth, the names of the hospital and the attending physician and signatures of the witnesses in attendance. Without that, he said, the measure would bar him from including the candidates name on the ballot.
I dont know thats on MY birth certificate, for goodness sakes said Bennett, who was born in Tucson.
Potentially more problematic, he said, is that each state has its own system of recording births. And Bennett, who is a Republican like all of the measures 41 sponsors, is not sure that its even possible to get an original birth certificate.
For example, he said, people seeking birth certificates from many states, often for passports or other documentation, are instead furnished with a certificate of live birth. That usually takes the form of a state official certifying, under oath, that there are documents on file proving a specific person was born on a specified date.
Thats not all, Bennett said, pointing to the requirement for the birth certificate to have the names of the attending physician and the signatures of witnesses.
If you were delivered at home with a midwife, does that mean you are no longer qualified to be the president of the United States? he asked. If there arent any signatures of witnesses in attendance, youre no longer qualified?
And what, exactly, is a long form birth certificate, he asked.
Is that a standard term of art that means the same thing in all 50 states? Bennett continued. And is it even available in all 50 states?
Officially speaking, the legislation crafted by Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley, does not mention Obama. And Burges, who first sponsored a slightly different version of the measure last year, said its not necessarily about Obama, though she admitted she doubts he was born in Hawaii as he claims, or that he can show he is a U.S. citizen.
With whats happening throughout the world, we need to make sure that our candidates are certifiable, she told Capitol Media Services when she introduced the first measure.
Burges managed to get the measure through the House last year. The bill died in the Senate. That requirement for the long form original, appears designed with Obama in mind.
Officials in Hawaii released a short-form version of the birth certificate when the issue first arose before the 2008 election. When that failed to satisfy critics, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the states health director, issued a statement saying he has seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen.
Bennett seems satisfied. I think he was born in Hawaii, he said. I personally believe he is a U.S. citizen.
Others sponsors of the legislation, though, apparently have their doubts.
Rep. Carl Seel, R-Phoenix, told KPNX this week he believes Obama and all presidential candidates should provide proof of their citizenship. Asked specifically if he believes Obama is a citizen, Seel responded, I have questions about that.
Bennett, acknowledging all the controversy, said he is sympathetic to the goal. I think we need a legitimate and verifiable process for candidates to demonstrate that they meet the qualifications, he said.
In the case of the presidents office the best place is at the federal level so that each state is not doing its own, different thing, Bennett continued. But it seems unfortunately obvious that theyve not sufficiently implemented such a process at the federal level or we wouldnt be having these questions.
He added, though, that no process might be enough in the minds of some people.
The riots are going to awesome.
PING!
K?
The issue of dual citizenhip, in regards to Fauxbama, is his birthright citizensip.
He was born with a divided citizenship.
At the time of his birth he was both a British Citizen and an American citizen.
You cannot be two parts of anything and still claim to be whole of another.
BTW, where is that BC he found among his mother’s belongings, upon her passing?
The Arizona legislators had better pay close attention to the advice they are getting here. If a Birth Certificate Requirement is passed into law it will be challenged in court and therefore the law needs to be air-tight. I would suggest that a little study of the laws related to the requirements for obtaining a U.S. passport might be advisable.
If you were delivered at home with a midwife, does that mean you are no longer qualified to be the president of the United States? he asked.
It isn’t just about being eligible, it’s about being able to PROVE it. If you can’t prove it then NO, YOU CAN’T BE PRESIDENT.
Missouri has Hb 238 that was subbmitted on January 24, 2011. This will catch on in many more states.
Way to go Arizona!
Instead of attacking Birthers....I am talking to you, Ann Coulter, Andrew Brokeback, Glenn Beck, and others in GOP Media who attack Birthers....its time to stop supporting Obama and lets get that long-form Birth Certificate
We could have had this Birther issue taken care of a while ago. Too many Fraud Cons and GOP Media have been working with the Obama Supporters to help keep Obama from releasing his real Birth Certificate.
Arizona legislature gets it. Its time for the Obama Supporters to do likewise
They did? I don't think anyone claims that photo shopped forgery we see all over the Internet. I have never heard Obama officially claim any specific document as being HIS birth certificate. These are all rumors.
Because this is the land of permanent McPain, I actually expect none of this to pass. I would imagine McPain will come to the legislature and speak against this.
If these lawmakers are adamant about BO/BS abiding by the natural born citizenship clause in Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution then why don’t they hold him accountable for not proving he was eligible in 2008 thereby violating the Constitution?
McCain doesn’t have a US based BC because he was born in a foreign country with two US citizen parents. He’s a statutory citizen with a Certificate of Citizenship to prove his US citizenship.
Obama is a native born US citizen who became a Naturalized US Citizen after he moved to Indonesia to become an Indonesian National.
Obama’s original long form BC was sealed by Court Order because of the Soetoro adoption. After the Soetoro adoption was annulled in 1971, the Soetoro BC was sealed by Order of the Court and the COLB was created to indicate a name change to Barack Hussein Obama II with Barack Hussein Obama as the father.
The Soetoro adoption terminated the parental rights of Lolo Soetoro but did not change Obama’s school record, immunization record or his Indonesian Nationality.
Eventually, Obama naturalized as a US citizen.
I had no idea that the health director of the state of Hawaii can just proclaim someone a Natural Born Citizen? Ugh, they can't. I doubt this fool even knows what a Natural Born Citizen is. If Obama’s records show that Barrack Obama Sr. is his father (as Obama claims he is), then he CAN NOT BE a Natural Born Citizen.
These “original vital records”, what are they? Are they the forms a relative fills out if you were born in a pineapple patch with no witnesses? Is it the form a relative fills out to say you were born in Hawaii when you were really born in Kenya? The laws at the time would allow someone to get a type of Hawaiian birth certificate in those circumstances. Would it be worth it for a family member to lie in order for a relatives child to get U.S. citizenship?
“I dont know thats on MY birth certificate, for goodness sakes said Bennett, who was born in Tucson.”
I bet it is.
I think, in return, he’ll charge you a few ME countries and $5 or $6 per gallon of gas. At a minimum.
Obama is a native born US citizen who became a Naturalized US Citizen after he moved to Indonesia to become an Indonesian National.
When was this? IF (That’s a big IF) Obama was born on U.S. soil, He is a native born citizen and an adoption can not take away his U.S. citizenship.
Upon reaching the age of 18, you can submit an application to become a naturalized citizen of another country, provided you qualify to become a naturalized citizen under that country’s requirements. You cannot become a naturalized citizen and renounce your U.S. citizenship until after you reach the age of majority, and your parent or guardian cannot renounce your citizenship for you.

Interesting. I have had an official copy of my COLB for years — it has my little feetprints, doctors’ signature, State Seal, father and mother name, place of birth and all that formal stuff you need to get a passport.
Exactly how is barry soreto jetting about the world without a valid passport, since his HI birth information is insufficient, based on the State Department’s requirements?
Born in Kenya, but my grammy said I was born in HAWAII and the dog ate my original birth certificate, and my dad wasn't a U.S. citizen and my mom wasn't old enough to convey U.S. citizenship to me ....... YES YOU CAN BE PRESIDENT
I had that once. I was on antibiotics for three weeks.
