Rep. Kucinich sues over olive pit in sandwich (for $150,000)

Democratic congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio has sued a congressional cafeteria for dental damage he says he suffered after biting into an olive pit in a sandwich wrap he bought there.

The suit says the wrap "contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit" that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the product served. The suit says that Kucinich suffered "serious and permanent" dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures.

The time it would have cost to recover a fair settlement (that is, for the $2K plus lost wages) would have cost more than the time plus legal fees. Plus it might have alienated the people who work at the convenience store, most of whom I like.

It might have been an attractive option if I thought I could have pocketed an appreciable percentage of $150K. Of course, I would have had had trouble living with myself, or holding my head up in public. I don't think Kucinich has has those issues.

and extra. It still only cost them about 500-bucks but my mother is very humble.

Actually, you can. We had a "virgin tooth" patient about a month ago. First time I have ever heard that term before. If you bite into a hard substance, such as an olive pit (which I have done a few times) and it hits the right angle, it can fracture a healthy tooth.....which is what lead to her "virgin tooth" root canal and crown.

I don't think it was an olive pit though.
