A pet cat has been summoned for jury duty - and has been told by courts he 'must attend' Despite owner Anna Esposito's protestations that a mistake has been made, a jury commissioner has ruled that Sal must attend the court.

She wrote that Sal was 'unable to speak and understand English' - and included a letter from her vet saying that the animal was a 'domestic short-haired neutered feline'.

Obviously the jury commissioner has a neutered brain.

Nothing unusual about that either.

A normal cat would be a better juror then some people I know.

Something doesn’t compute. The pet owner must have pulled some stunt for it to have gotten on the court’s list of potential jurors.

This is easy....

(1) Call the local press...

(2) Make preps for maximum internet exposure...

(3) Take lotsa pix /video of 'Sal the Cat' in the jury box...

(4) Once word: YouTube... VIRAL EMBARRASSMENT for idiot bureaucracy

Suffolk County, Boston MA is where they're from. You hit the nail on the head. Sal might already registered to vote too...

"included a letter from her vet saying that the animal was a 'domestic short-haired neutered feline'"

And yet it has more sense than half the people who do end up on juries!

If the cat owner has notified the proper authorities that a huge mistake has been made and they choose to ignore it, then I would notify my local media and bring Fluffy on the appointed day. Perhaps they may listen more carefully the next time someone calls and says their doggy, gerbil, or bunny has been called. Sheesh.

I’ll bet Sal-the-cat voted too. Probably got on the jury duty list from registering to vote.
