WASHINGTON (AFP) – First Lady Michelle Obama on Thursday urged parents to teach their children tolerance in response to the deadly Tucson shooting spree that touched off debate about political rhetoric.
Mrs. Obama, who joined her husband at a memorial service for the victims Wednesday, issued an open letter to parents. Children are struggling, she said, to make sense of Saturday's shooting that killed six and left 14 injured, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
"We can teach them the value of tolerance -- the practice of assuming the best, rather than the worst, about those around us," she wrote. "We can teach them to give others the benefit of the doubt, particularly those with whom they disagree."

Dear Congressman:
I read this AM in the Times Union there is a move afoot in DC to have congressional members sit side by side in the pResident’s State of the Union Address. I hope you do NOT fall for this democrat trap. IMO, to do so would be tantamount to saying the shooting in Arizona was politically based. Since she is a democrat, obviously done by someone with conservative or tea party beliefs no doubt.
Beyond that, there is a conserted effort being made by the pResident to change the focus of the electorate from the economy and deficit to that of “civility”. This coming from a person who was as uncivil toward the GOP as one can get. Don’t forget how the GOP was shut out of legislation for four years under Ms Pelousy. Also, he never found the need to meet with the minority senate leadership for the two years up to the 2010 election. He has to overcome that callous approach including his famous comment, “we won.”
Lastly, don’t go off message because of this deplorable shooting. To do so would be an insult to the voters who put you there to cut the deficit, remove ridicules regulation, get rid of or reduce the impact of the medical law and to keep taxes as is.

What a hypocritical twit. Around these parts, kids are sledding, skating, playing in the snow, and don't know a damned thing about this work of a crazy, potheaded, liberal killer, since their parents had too much sense to bug them with this political smear. Not even here in liberal Vermont.
Funny that the very same hypocrites who espouse ‘tolerance’; are the least tolerant Americans in the country.

Perhaps she ought to worry more about the young people killing and being killed in our major cities. While a lot of them are gangbangers there are some who die just because they were in the wrong plance at the wrong time.

How about TOLERANCE for people who want to eat what THEY choose to eat?

The sad part is, Michelle's admonition was followed to the letter with this guy.
For the most part he was tolerated. His differences were accepted. People did assume the best.
Three hours before he shot six people dead, and wounded fourteen others, a ranger (type) let the guy off for running a red light, with a warning. "Aw, you're really a nice guy. I'll cut you some slack."
How did that work out Michelle?
Oh yes, I forgot. The vile right trumps all that. If only it had adopted the leftist mindset too...

To take the journalists, politicians, and pundits at their first accusations anyone can now come to only one conclusion. Political discourse and disagreement must lead to Schizophrenia.

Excellent point. Someone should have said "this guy's a nutcase" and sent him to a doctor. But they were "tolerant."
Everything I know about tolerance I learned from Jeremiah Wright.
And in all this, never a thought from them about the Judge who was murdered. It was no lesser liberal than John Grisham who wrote a novel about judges being assassinated by conservatives. I expect Grisham is too mainstream (and writes too clearly) to have been of interest ro Jared, but don’t you think that novel contributed to the level of danger to any judge?

There is no need to give “benefit of the doubt” to the leftists - because - frankly - there is no doubt. They have rejected rationality and civilization.
They need to be treated as the anti-humans that they are. Really - not worthy of attention or respect in any way.
