Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus led after the first ballot in the race for chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Needing 85 votes among the 168 members to win, Priebus took 45 votes in the first round. Trailing Priebus after one round is Chairman Michael Steele with 44 votes, former RNC official Maria Cino with 32 votes, Michigan Committeeman Saul Anuzis with 24 votes, and former Missouri GOP Chairwoman Ann Wagner with 23 votes.
Several more ballots are expected before someone reaches the 85-vote threshold. Steele won the 2009 race after six rounds, defeating a five-candidate field that included Anuzis and then-Chairman Mike Duncan.
All eyes are now on Steele to see if his support begins to dwindle. In 2009, Duncan dropped out after three rounds after watching his vote total dwindle from 52 to 44. He had led after the first round and was tied with Steele after the second round.
The sense here is that if Steele did not finish in first place after the first ballot, he would have a difficult chance of winning. Still, much of the talk among members before this vote centered on whether Steele would leave the race when it became apparent he could not win...
Isn’t looking like Saul’s day.
You have Cino and Wagner reversed. Wagner jumped from 5th to 3rd on the last ballot.
Priebus 54, Steele 33, Wagner 32, Cino 28, Anuzis 21.
When the lead candidate is only pulling 32% of the total, dropping the one with 13% in a 5-way race is a bit premature.
In this case, Steele is the only one who absolutely cannot win, and he's in second place.
Looks like it will come down to Priebus vs. Wagner—a win-win for us, since those were probably the two most conservative candidates.

Hmmm... Reince Priebus and Ann Wagner seem to be acceptable. Just hope that they are not splitting the votes that resulted in Steele re-elected. The three are now (after the 3rd vote) occupy the highest votes.
The momentumm is for Wagner as the RINOs circle the wagons.
Lets hope that the Texas delegates can bend a few arms.
Per Illinois Review, our RINO combiner chairman Pat Brady spoke on Priebus' behalf.

Is Reince Priebus Shovel Ready in Race For RNC Chair?
I have a bad feeling about this...
Step down Steele, the GOP will survive without you!
Looks like it is bye,bye Michael Steele.
looks like the RINOs are drifting to the insiders down on ballot.
That was kind of sickening, but every candidate is supported by some slimeball or other. It's inevitable given the makeup of the RNC.
Steele is going to stay in and throw his votes to the RINO.
Why the hell can’t we get a decent CONSERVATIVE with a ‘normal’ name-?! Good Lord-!

They are AFRAID of being thought of by the left-wing press (they will hate you no matter what, so might as well piss them off) and others as being RACIST, no matter that Steele has proven himself to be incompetent and more interested in Steele than DOING THE JOB OF RAISING FUNDS.
Aren't there any good-to-go, competent and HUMBLE black CONSERVATIVES running for the position?
That would be ideal, but no matter what, Steele MUST GO, and a BETTER person, white, black, or other needs to take his place.
Wagner herself may be a RINO (sounds like it), but I expect fundraising and organization to be her primary focus—and rightly so.
I also, without info to the contrary, wouldn’t be shocked if she were more open to supporting the one female candidate for prez, who is also the one conservative candidate we seem to have with a chance to win than, say Priebus, who’s been bought by the Barbours.
Yeah...guess taken out of context a bit, it does sound kinda homo...but you know what I meant, right?
