Texas Delegation Agrees To Vote As Bloc in RNC Chairman's Race (Against Steele)
info@texasgop.org ^ | Republican Party of Texas | Chris Elam

Posted on 01/13/2011 4:30:58 PM PST by Paleo Conservative

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — This afternoon, after observing the final debate among RNC Candidates for Chairman, RPT State Chairman Steve Munisteri announced that all three representatives for Texas to the Republican National Committee will vote in a bloc on the first ballot for former Michigan State Republican Chairman Saul Anuzis.

In announcing his decision, Chairman Munisteri stated: "Bill Crocker, Borah Van Dormolen, and I all came to the RNC winter meetings in Maryland, united behind the belief that a change in leadership was necessary. I personally have wrestled with this very tough decision since I had worked in a campaign in which Maria Cino was political director, and thought she had done a fine job. Additionally, Ambassador Ann Wagner had also come highly recommended to me by people I trust. Nevertheless, I felt it important that if at all possible, that Texas stand united and maximize our state's impact on the national Republican scene."

"Saul Anuzis is a candidate that we are all comfortable with. I am convinced he is a movement, grassroots conservative who has demonstrated exceptional fundraising and organizational abilities as former Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Thus, tomorrow on Friday, January 14th, all three of us have committed to vote for Saul Anuzis, when the vote for RNC Chairman is held."

National Committeman Bill Crocker also stated: "Saul understands that the obligations of the RNC Chairman are to make sure the organization operates well, raise money and control the message of the RNC, in that order of priority. Currently our organization is not running well at all and is disastrously deficient in fundraising. Our message over the last election cycle left much to be desired.

"Saul’s experience as an extremely successful entrepreneur and business operator, and as an equally successful chairman of the Michigan party, gives me great assurance that he can manage a large organization. He has the management skills that we need at the helm of the RNC. I enthusiastically support Saul’s candidacy for the chairmanship of the RNC."

National Committeewoman Borah Van Dormolen said: "Of prime importance to me is to vote for an RNC chair who best represents the interests of movement, grassroots conservatives in the Texas Republican Party. After studying the candidates closely, and after receiving feedback from grassroots leadership in Texas, I am convinced that Saul Anuzis will do the best job of representing the interests of Texas Republicans. I am proud to join with our Committeeman Bill Crocker and Chairman Munisteri in presenting a united front for Texas."

,,,,united behind the belief that a change in leadership was necessary.

God bless Texas.

Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich et al are NOT who tea party supporters, conservatives and independents want on the ballot in 2012. Those names equate to the same-old, same-old unelectable (RINO) candidates. GOP leadership must be sharply attuned to the voters who spoke clearly in November of 2010. The aforementioned candidates may have some backing and plenty of campaign cash, but they ultimately detract from a true Constitutional candidate voters would actually (thankfully) put into the presidency.

This guy is coming out of Michigan—a blue and dysfunctional state. Exactly what are his credentials anyway. All I got from the Texas announcement was the usual politic speak.

Anybody from Michigan out there who has some sense of the man?

The days of aligning voters to the party are over. The GOP will align to the times or not.

Sounds like the Texas delegation gets it.

The future of the republic is at stake. Flaccid, business as usual politics is what got them where they are. Bob Dole got them where they are. John McCain got them where they are. Reaching across the bipartisan aisle got them where they are.

I wonder if those at the top really noticed what happened over the last year. Funding dried up for the same old same old, and somehow, amazingly, the house was overwhelmingly regained. The clowns at the top saw to it that the senate was not.

Business as usual will be the GOP’s epitaph.

.... one that voted a Republican for Gov, and voted in a lot of new Republicans in the statehouse and Congress.

ANuzis would make a good RNC chair. The Texas delegation picked well.

...and yet they re-install LIBERAL Strauss as Speaker (in the Texas House) - with a 101-49 vote margin over the Democrats. DAAAAAAAA.

I’m no fan of Steele, but I’m a far lesser fan of politicians that vote like blind little sheep and in a bloc. My advice to politicians is to always vote your own ideals and beliefs using your own intellect, and forget how your peers vote. This is nothing to brag about imho.

Wow the RNC Chair election vote is tomorrow?

Hope the country clubbers get it right and put somebody in who doesn’t alienate contributors.

As a Texan I’m not bragging about this either.

There is power in bloc voting. What they do is to agree beforehand that whoever the caucus determines is the best candidate is the candidate that everyone will vote for. That way you don't split your vote and let the liberal win (which is what always happens when conservatives split their votes).

RNC Chairman Candidate Favors Net Neutrality

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2634434/posts

“As a staunch advocate for net neutrality, however, Anuzis rows against the tide established by the majority of his party. (It should be noted that on Nov. 2, all 95 Democrats who signed a pledge supporting net neutrality lost their respective elections throughout the country.)”
